So many of Hong Kong's iconic landmarks and Instagram-worthy sights are totally free to check out. Here are 12 for you to discover!👇

1. Skip the cable car and walk up 268 steps to the top of Muk Ye Shan. That's where you'll find the iconic Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery looking out among the lush scenery.

2. Take a swim at Repulse Bay — a 292-metre beach nestled between mountains, perfect for cooling off after a humid day. Hong Kong is home to dozens of beaches, from Cheung Sha Beach to the appropriately named Big Wave Bay.

3. Check out free events, performances, and pop-ups over at West Kowloon Art Park. With a ton of green space, it's also the perfect place to have a picnic.

4. Visit Bruce Lee's....statue! Avenue of Stars on Victoria Harbour is Hong Kong's version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Stroll down the stunning promenade to spot plaques and statues dedicated to your fave stars.

5. Yes, malls are primarily for shopping. But in Hong Kong, malls like Times Square or K11 MUSEA are artistic and architectural marvels worth checking out even if you don't buy anything. Hong Kong is known as the "city of malls" for a reason!

6. Soak in a little history with visits to the absolutely free Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden. Connected by a foot bridge, these tranquil spots are great to visit if you're looking for a little good fortune (and some quiet away from the city!).

7. Immerse yourself in Hong Kong's incredible design and culture scene with a walk through PMQ, a revitalized historical site turned into a haven for creatives. You can eat and shop here, but enjoying the local art scene is free, of course.

8. Hong Kong is all about the panoramic views, and there might be no better way to see this stunning collision of skyscrapers and nature than at The Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island. Avoid the tram crowds and enjoy the walk.

9. See the sights at ARTLANE in Sai Ying Pun. It's a small urban area full of vibrant colour, with beautiful building murals designed by local and international artists.

10. Get up close to Hong Kong's neon-tinged nightlife on Temple Street, where nocturnal energy, delicious grub, and dazzling lights come together in a feast for the senses.

11. Enjoy the skyline in a spectacular (and free) way. Every night at 8 p.m., the iconic skyline becomes the backdrop to a free light and music show called A Symphony of Lights. Check it out from the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade.

12. For a real taste of old school Hong Kong, take a stroll along the uneven granite slabs of Pottinger Street, better known as "Stone Slabs Street." It's one of the oldest streets in Hong Kong, dating back to the 1850s, and it's famous for its vendors selling all kinds of unique costumes!
