Celebrating Art Month? Here Are 6 Hotels With Great Art Pieces!

Because art is everywhere—not only in museums!

Posted on

Some people think that February is synonymous to Valentine’s Day, but, unbeknownst to some, there are art lovers out there who would rather celebrate Art Month, right? Right. Here are some places you didn’t think would hold little gems of art.

The Hotel at Green Sun

Our Awesome Planet / Via

Located in one of the most vibrant cities in the country, Green Sun stands along Chino Roces Ave. Extension in Makati City. The former two-hectare car shop is now a proud modern arts center. The Hotel at Green Sun is also a popular venue for art shows, music, and fashion events.

One of the most fascinating art pieces you will see is Jinggoy Buensuceso’s art installation of a golden dragon, which slithers from the lobby to the hotel’s restaurant. Not only does it exude modernity and minimalism, it is also replete with symbolism. The golden dragon stands as a reminder of strength and rebirth.

Privato Hotel

Swirls and Scribbles / Via

This chic boutique hotel in Ortigas boasts great art work, including a life-sized wire sculpture of an ostrich by Davao-based artist, Ann Pamintuan. The ostrich is popular among guests—just check out Privato Hotel’s tagged photos on Instagram!

Their lobby’s also an artwork in itself! It’s fully wrapped in Italian marble, and features Architect Juan Carlo Calma’s iconic Privato pattern. Made of Italian Carrara and Black Marquina, each marble “blade” on the pattern was carefully water cut and painstakingly pieced together to create the design.

Conrad Manila

Metro Staycation / Via

A relatively new hotel in Manila, Conrad Hotel has an entrance that deserves its own room in a national museum. Contemporary Filipino artist Leeroy New’s fiberglass sculpture welcomes every guest that comes into Conrad Manila’s hotel doors.

The nautical themed hotel’s designers also made sure that there are art pieces in its public spaces. Sculptures also abound on the 3rd floor, where F&B establishments are found, making the sculptures accessible to both hotel and restaurant guests.

Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences Makati

With a hotel named after one of the greatest painters that walked the earth, Picasso Boutique Serviced Residences doubly serves as an alternative art space. The hotel was built with Picasso in mind—each floor designed to reflect a significant phase in the artist’s life.

The hotel, which is an architectural gem in itself, also houses Altro Mondo Arte Contemporanea, an art gallery located on its fourth floor. It’s to devoted featuring new contemporary Filipino artists every 2-3 months.

Hijo Resorts Davao

Eat To Your Heart's Content

Standing as the first and only eco-agri tourism destination in the Philippines, Hijo Resorts Davao also devotes itself to promoting local artists of the Philippines.

The resort houses some sculptures made by prolific Mindanao-based artist, Ray Mudjahid Ponce Millan, better known as Kublai Millan. Hijo Resorts’ lobby is also peppered with the multi-talented artist’s paintings. Don’t forget to spot these underappreciated gems when you go on a day tour at Hijo!

Hotel Luna

Dude for Food

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live in a museum, Hotel Luna offers its guests just that. Branding itself as the first and only hotel museum in the Philippines, Hotel Luna in Vigan showcases some of the finest art works in the Philippines.

It exhibits work of the late National Artist, Juan Luna, to whom the hotel is named after. The hotel even has Juan Luna’s Spolarium, albeit only a replica, since the original is in its rightful place in the National Museum. Aside from Luna originals, Hotel Luna is also home to great works of BenCab and Fernando Amorsolo. Best of all? The hotel offers guided tours, free of charge.
