"I bought this scale a while back because I had a more expensive $45 glass scale from Target that seemed like it was not really consistent with weight results; to the point I purchased a carbon steel 100g OIML class M1: 5 mg calibration weight. After testing my glass scale with the certified calibration weight, I quickly learned that the glass scale was definitely not consistent in providing weigh results. After receiving the Ozeri scale, I tested with my calibration weigh and the scale provided consistent results; $45 scale is out, and the $14 scale is in." —TK

"I conducted a simple test at four test points: 1,000, 2,500, 4,000, and 5,000 grams, and the readings were 1,000, 2,500, 4,001, and 5,004 grams respectively. I would put this scale's accuracy at +/- 0.1% of reading + 1 gram. Which for this price is pretty incredible." —Amazon Customer

If you prep your meals or follow a particular diet that requires measuring portions, getting one of these will make your life exponentially easier and take out all the guesswork.

"Trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle — I've been more invested in meal prep and portion control. Using apps such as My Fitness Pal, most calorie calculations are based on ounces. What does 3 oz of chicken breast really look like? I was looking for an affordable food scale and this one is perfect! Its sleek design and compact footprint compliment my kitchen countertop flawlessly. The scale is incredible user-friendly and easy to navigate. When one is prepping food, ease of appliances is paramount and this one delivers accurate and easy weighing for guess-free portion control." —Hanna Sims

"I calorie count and do meal prepping once a week for both my husband and I. We work out and are trying to put on as much lean muscle as we can, so having a kitchen scale is super important. I LOVE this Ozeri Pronto digital multifunction scale. Why? Because it is super user-friendly. I can switch between grams, ounces, pounds, kg, or ml by just pushing the button on the left. There is a reason why Cooks Illustrated gave this scale their 'best buy' designation. For $10 you can't beat it! Seriously, you won't regret this. I use a lightweight bowl and place it on top of the scale and then I can zero out the weight of the bowl before I add food to the scale." —B Smith

"Bought this to weigh ingredients for meal prep. It's super simple to set up and use and very accurate. The Tare feature lets you exclude the weight of your container so you get the specific food measurement. Highly recommended." —molaro

Oh yeah, and it's also great for weighing tiny orphaned rabbits, puppies, and hedgehogs...

"Perfect for figuring out how much to feed!" —Amazon Customer

"Perfect for what we needed (daily weighing of our pet hedgehogs). We put a flat bottomed bowl on top and turn it on, it automatically zeroes/tares out then we place the hedgehog in the bowl and write down the weight. I know this isn't typical usage. Hedgehogs need to be weighed in grams and shifts of 10 grams can be indicative of issues so we wanted something precise and reliable. We also have used it traditionally." —Christine Radice

...or calculating how much yarn you have left.

"I've never had a kitchen scale. I can see how it would be useful for diet or recipe conversions. I, however, am using it for weighing yarn. I crochet, and when I get near the end of a skein and wonder if there's enough to make one more row......I previously didn't want to take a chance of running out mid row. I don't like changing skeins mid row. But now, I can weigh a skein, crochet a row, and weigh it again and I KNOW how much it takes to do a row. Now I can plop that last glob of yarn on the scale and I will know without a doubt whether or not it will last for one more row. ;)" —Hopeful"This is great for trying to win at playing 'yarn chicken' at the end of a knitting project and knowing when you can follow the pattern instructions that say, 'when you have 6 grams left...' and be able to complete the pattern. I'm sure it would also work well in the kitchen but since I rather knit than cook, that's all I've used it for." —Basking in Maine

Plus, it's super easy to clean, has a long battery life, comes in seven colors, and is cute and sleek as heck. What more could you ask for at this price?!

"I never realized how much I've been missing a kitchen scale! So much fun to grab items and see how much they weigh. Also useful for all those recipes that specify things by weight — 2 oz of kale is a lot more than you'd think. This turns on really fast. Easy-to-read interface. Material: I haven't scratched it yet and it hasn't cracked. But I'm not being too hard on it. Battery life: I haven't worn down the original batteries in over a month and have weighed lots of unnecessary things. Durability: hasn't shown any signs of damage. Wipes clear really easily." —victor lum"Small profile doesn't take up a lot of counter space. Looks nice. Easy to clean — I just wipe it down with a Clorox Wipe. Simple and intuitive to use; allows for measurements in a variety of units (grams, ounces, pounds, etc.). Long battery life. I've used it daily for over a month and it has about a third of the battery life left.Accurate, lightweight, and easy to move around, store, or travel with." —Blue Artemis"I've been using this scale basically every day for six months, and it continues to do what I need it to. Battery life is good. I'm using the batteries it came with, and they've lasted six months of daily use. Scale has no problem going into the negative. So you have the option to weigh how much you take out of a container. For example, you don't want to put a hot frying pan on the scale, but you can put a bottle of vegetable oil on it, tare it to 0, then if pour out a serving of vegetable oil into the pan on the stove and put the bottle back on the scale, it will read -14g." —L. I love you, little food scale.

amazon.com

"I bake bread at least once every two weeks, sometimes a little more frequently based on consumption, and always got at least a little bit frustrated with the difference in the size of the loaves and boules. We have limited space in our kitchen, due to the size of it as a whole, so we put off buying a kitchen scale. After baking bread the last time around I decided that it was time to look to see if a scale could be found that would be small enough for storage, while still offering functionality to measure the weights as precise as possible.

I looked at a few of the different scales available on Amazon and was definitely not interested in getting one that relies on a watch battery and also wanted one that didn't round the numbers up. This Ozeri Pronto has a small profile, uses two AAA batteries (which were included with the scale) and is precise within +/- 0.1%, based on the testing that another review for this product was able to determine. It works well and I look forward to using it for years to come. If you're in the market for a food scale to use while baking, then this is a good scale to purchase." —J. Walton
