36 Things To Perk You Up If You’re Not Feeling Kenough

Sometimes you just need a little cheer to turn your mojo dojo casa house into a mojo dojo casa *home*.

    1. A pair of retro-inspired smiley face slippers because, in the words of all those plucky orphans in Annie, you're never fully dressed without a smile!! Reviewers love these super plush, durable slippers for putting a literal ~pep in their step~ at the beginning of the day.

Promising review: "So comfy, so worth it. I have been eyeing these slippers for some time and finally ordered them. When they arrived, they were in a vacuum sealed bag and I was concerned and confused because they felt so hard. As soon as I removed them from the packaging, they fluffed up and felt sooo comfortable. They’re soft and feel great especially with the rubber sole!" —Natasha

Get it from Amazon for $15.95 (available in women's sizes 5–12 and five colors).

    2. An at-home slushy-making cup so easy to use that you're going to spend the entire summer in Slushy Town, Population: You. All you have to do is freeze the cup for four hours, pour in the cold drink of your choice (read: anything from soda to LaCroix to juice to smoothies) and crush the sides of the silicone cup until a slush forms.

Promising review: "When it got here I cleaned it and put it in the freezer. I took it out a day later and filled it with Diet Coke just to see what it does. Squeeze it a few times and it's 100% a slushy. I am shocked and thrilled. Worth the money. It has some type of ribbing inside that freezes. If you enjoy a cold beverage, get it quick." —GEORGE

Get it from Amazon for $11.99 (available in ten colors and two-packs).

    3. A buildable Glimmer Glow Stick lipstick with a sheer, subtle glitter and a unique rosy tint formulated with ~pH technology~ so it will adapt to your own personalized shade.

Promising review: "The reviews were all good, so what the heck, I wanted to try it. Shocked how much I love it! My lips are always dry and it is like putting on a thin light layer of Vaseline, but my lips turn pinkish! I can’t stop putting it on, it’s a natural looking glow. I want a bunch of these for my purses, office, car … I’m definitely stocking up." —J. Boyer

    4. A set of Barbie martini glasses that were featured in the iconic film, so now you can dissociate from the end of a long week of Capitalism (TM) by pretending you took a car (and a space ship and a bike and a snowmobile) to Barbieland.

A light up duck laying on its side with a face of just complete bone deep existential despair

Promising review: "I ordered this lamp because of its appearance. I didn't NEED a depressed duck lamp ... but it has totally filled a void in my life I didn't know existed. Everyone who sees it pokes it. The lamp is actually very functional. It's got a really nice set of brightness options and the glow is yellowish, which is much nicer than white in a dim/dark room. One thing that isn't mentioned in the description is that its legs are utterly floppy. It's terrific." —Literated

    7. A blow-up pool horse that will perfectly complement any mojo dojo casa house/pool setting, and help fight the patriarchy to boot — because like Ken, when we found out the patriarchy wasn't about horses, we *all* lost interest.

A blow up horse sitting on a lawn

Promising review: "I had my 21st birthday which was western-themed and this horse was passed around and pretty much the celebrity of the party. He had multiple names from different friend groups and he was such a hit. My boyfriend and I named him Wolfgang and now he travels with us whenever we end up going somewhere. I have a phobia of horses but this thing is like a fake dog and i unexpectedly love it so much." —josiexbee

    8. A set of eye-popping fine point pens designed not to bleed through pages for planners and journals, so you can — gasp — color code your tasks, putting a fun twist on them that makes it all the more motivating to stay focused 🌈.

Promising review: "I love how this pen feels to hold and it writes beautifully! I am very picky about how the ink looks from the pens I use and I don't remember having one that writes so smoothly and beautifully! I will buy these whenever I need more. I actually just purchased another package of all black!" —Marcia

The dark circles are hardly noticeable. My sensitive skin has not broken out. I never write reviews, but this was so good that I had to write a review. This actually works." —Ben

    10. A set of Kitsch's limited edition satin Barbie scrunchies so you can lean into the theme of 2023, which Greta Gerwig decided on behalf of the whole planet is "Barbiecore." These are an excellent way to gently preserve your hairstyle overnight or in the heat, because the satin doesn't snag or crimp your hair.

Kitsch is an LA-based, self-financed, woman-owned small business established in 2010 that specializes in hair accessories.

I love these so much that I refuse to take them out of my hair all summer — they are DELIGHTFULLY oversized for that throwback '80s look, and so, SO remarkably gentle on my hair. My favorite thing about them is that if I have my hair styled a certain way, in blown out straight or in curls, I can use one of these scrunchies to hold it back for hours and when I pop it back out, the style will fall right back into place. Also people cannot get enough of the subtle sparkles on the all-pink scrunchie. It's my Signature Look of 2023 (which is to say of course I wore it to the Eras Tour; was there even a choice in the matter??).

    11. A copy of Burn After Writing, a guided journal that tens of thousands of reviewers swear by — through a series of questions and thought experiments, it encourages people to take time away from their screens to explore their feelings, both new and old, so they can embrace meaningful ones and try to let others go.

Promising review: "I first saw this book on TikTok and decided to look more into it. I purchased four total because I know some people holding onto things that are difficult to let go of. It’s a great way to look at things from a different perspective and truly hold yourself accountable to different things in your life. I love what it stands for and I look forward to when I burn mine after I’m done. Self love, self care, and meditation for a better state of mind tomorrow is always the goal. I definitely recommend it to those susceptible to change and the willingness to try things different. You’re so much more than what’s been done to you and someone’s inability to see your worth does not decrease your value. Choose you for a change." —Brent Helm

    12. A cult-favorite ~secret~ popcorn salt anyone in the movie theater industry will tell you is a perfect at-home alternative for that oh-so-savory buttery goodness you love to inhale before the previews begin. Not to be dramatic about popcorn on main, but this stuff is game changing.

Our family recently unearthed this because beloved To All The Boys I've Loved Before author Jenny Han mentioned that it was her secret to delicious popcorn, and it may have just wrecked me for other at-home popcorn for the rest of my life. It genuinely tastes just as salty and buttery and savory as fresh movie theater popcorn. I inhaled it so fast that every single one of my organs lit up in mild alarm.

Promising review: "I am a person who will make myself sick eating buckets of popcorn (I have no self control). This has by far been my favorite 'TikTok made me buy' item. My at-home popcorn is now my favorite thing to make and I don't need to go the theater for popcorn. Very much worth the purchase and this will last me such a long time." —S Martinez

BuzzFeed editor using the glowing, blue chopsticks to eat sushi
Two sets of glowing lightsaber chopsticks in blue and red
    Emma Lord / BuzzFeed, Amazon

As you can see from the above GIF, I bought these for myself, and I love them to pieces. TBH, I use them as decor every bit as much as I use them to eat. Sometimes I just keep them in my work area to light them up during the day to feel fancy. They toggle back and forth between a bunch of different colors, like red, blue, yellow, purple, and multicolor, so you can either make them match *or* have a red and blue one together and bring ~balance~ to the Force.

Promising review: "The chopsticks are very durable, and the glow is bright. They're a bit bigger that I expected — but very pleased nonetheless with the product because it serves the purpose and is entertaining for kids, right up to adult Star Wars nerds. It also made the perfect gift for my fellow Star Wars nerds. I've been too busy playing with them rather than using them to eat food — but hopefully that will eventually happen before the batteries need changing." —Anthony

    15. Barbie x Hally's Shade Stix, the latest in delightful Barbie collabs this summer — this easy-to-use temporary hair dye has high pigments that work with *every* shade and texture of hair. This is an excellent way to get some bright, loud colors for festivals and theme parties and sporting events risk-free, because it washes right out in the shower.

BuzzFeeder with pink streaks on blonde hair
Reviewer with blue streaks in dark hair
    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed, Amazon

I tried this in the pink and I am o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d. You use the wand included in the dye tube and brush the color right into your hair with one or two swipes, depending how strong you want it to be. What I love is that it doesn't get tacky and disrupt the natural flow of your hair — mine stayed perfectly curled in the front even with the color sticking to it. It stayed vibrant in my hair for a full 24 hours, and then truly did wash right out in the shower so fast that I forgot it was even there to wash out in the first place. It didn't leave any kind of residue in my VERY white bathtub. I also wore a baseball cap at one point while I had the dye in, and it miraculously did not transfer any color onto the fabric either.

Get it from Amazon for $14.98 (also available in purple and blue).

    16. A set of Globbles, which are about to be your new favorite stress-relieving fidget toy. These colorful balls are squishy, stretchy, and stick to pretty much any flat surface you throw them at *without* leaving any messy residue. TikTokers are having a blast tossing these at walls and ceilings to see the satisfying way they glom onto them.

Reviewer holding six squishy balls in different rainbow colors in their hand

Check out a TikTok of the Globbles in action.

Promising review: "Bought a six-pack for my neurodivergent family. We are all either ADHD or autistic. I struggle with compulsive hair pulling and bought these to help keep my hands busy. They are the perfect size, more satisfying than a stress ball, clean easily, fun to hurl at the wall or ceiling, and so far have lasted very well. I did test the durability of one and did break one when I pulled it as hard as I could. The inside looks something like shaving cream and didn’t smell or anything. But if you have a kid who is an aggressive chewer, perhaps keep an eye on them." —Amazon Customer

    17. A cloud-shaped magnetic key holder for an absurdly cute storage option for keys that will prettttyyy much guarantee you never lose them again.

Promising review: "So, yes, TikTok made me buy this, but so far I really like it. It's obviously very adorable and offers a charming spot to keep my keys that works with my entryway. I'm really surprised by how strong the hold is for such a small object — I carry my car fob and a few keys and so far it's holding strong. I hung it with Command strips to avoid any potential damage to the wall and I will say make sure it's level as the hold is not so good on an angle (but that was from the original in-hand testing). Definitely recommend and for the price, I'm very tempted to get one for my at-work office." —D. Carter

    18. A pancake batter dispenser complete with side measurements so you can mix your ingredients right into it without dirtying up an extra bowl and ladle. Reviewers swear by this to get mess-free, perfectly round and portioned pancakes!

reviewer using the batter dispenser to pour a perfect circle of pancake batter onto a griddle

Check out a TikTok of the pancake batter dispenser in action.

Promising review: "I got this yesterday, and my son asked me this morning if I would make him pancakes! I was happy to oblige, so I could try my new kitchen gadget, and it did not disappoint! I LOVE it! I made the batter right in the container, and it has measurements on it, so I didn't even have to get out my measuring cups. The batter came out perfectly and easily, and when I stopped the flow, it immediately stopped! There was not one dribble of batter anywhere, and the pancakes turned out perfectly! I cannot wait to make cupcakes with this! That was the main reason I bought it, because I always dribble cake batter everywhere when I try to make cupcakes, and it's a mess. I love cupcakes, but not the mess. Now I will be able to easily make them! I will most likely buy this as gifts for my family and friends as well. My advice: Get it!" —Nikki

There are A LOT of games, some of which I would not play, but there are many that make this toy too fun to put down. Well worth the money. Nope, not at all. But it does get the attention of two teenage boys. Had I gone with something a bit more my decor style, I can guarantee you it would not be as useful. I love to throw it on top of my usual black liner when I want an extra pop on a night out or am just feeling a little "adventurous." The liner's super thin tip glides nicely and makes it easy to be precise, too!"

Promising review: "Guys, I have hella hooded eyes, and any time I tried those expensive Sephora or Ulta eyeliners, they would smudge or fade INSTANTLY. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!! The color pops, it's easy to use, and it NEVER SMUDGES, NEVER FLAKES, DOES NOT MOVE IN WATER!!! I fell asleep with it on, and it looked like I had just applied it when I woke up. ... Best eyeliner out there, take it from a girl who has tried ALL of those expensive eyeliners (Stila, Urban Decay, YOU NAME IT). I will never switch to anything else." —Jakjak
