39 Convenient Products That Were Basically Designed With College Students In Mind

This super encouraging tear-off daily planner is going to make you the most put-together human on campus come 2022.

1. A jar of internet-beloved, TikTok-famous The Pink Stuff, which is basically the one-and-done cleaning product that will take care of all your weird stains and spills without taking up much space or effort. All you have to do is wet a paper towel or wash cloth, dip it in the paste, and watch any kind of grime — be it on the counter, caked in the sink, stuck to the stove, even scratched on the wall — and this stuff will take care of it in a snap.

Promising review: "Honestly I was very skeptical when I first purchased. Everyone on social media was talking about how amazing this product was for cleaning around the house and I just thought they were all jumping on some kind of bandwagon. Of course I caved and had to try it for myself. Needless to say I’m very impressed! It removed stubborn mold and grime from my shower tile grout with use of a hard-bristle toothbrush. It removed hard water stains from my sinks and faucets. I noticed it really does remove mineral buildup, but it takes a lot of elbow grease and repetitive applications before you start seeing progress. The texture feels similar to when you mix honey with sugar to make a lip scrub, except it’s super-fine grit and more pasty like putty or clay. It works amazing so far! No overpowering smell (barely any smell at all), easy to use, and a little product goes a long way. I haven’t tried it on rust yet so we’ll see how that goes. Over all very pleased and impressed so far. Highly recommend!" —Marissa

2. A roll of clear heavy-duty double-sided removable tape that truly did not come here to play. People use this for everything from mounting wall hangings and electronics to securing their vases and glass objects to tables to keeping their rugs in place. Most importantly, though, it's also easily removable and leaves no residue behind, so everything in your dorm or rented apartment will stay in tip-top shape.

Promising review: "So, I bought these beautiful acrylic shelves from Amazon and the sticky adhesive wasn't bad, it just wasn't sturdy and one of my shelves fell. Luckily nothing broke, but after that I immediately ordered this tape, which I got in two days, and I installed it as soon as I got it. Beautiful!!!! Works well, very sticky, I love that it's thick because it also helped with balancing. My walls seem to not be completely straight. So with this product I was able to stick the shelves up perfectly without them looking like they are dropping over. And on that note they are great and amazing with the help of this company. Thank you!" —Trinity

3. A popular water-resistant Under Armour face mask designed to sit off your lips, giving you plenty of room to breathe without getting fabric sucked into your mouth — a perfect mask for anyone who wears one in class all day, or needs a comfy option for the on-campus gym. It's also made with the company's Iso-Chill fabric, so it doesn't overheat despite being bulkier than other masks.

I have two of these in my own rotation, and I'm impressed not only by the comfort, but by how well they wash up and maintain their shape. The straps are super soft on your ears, even when I take them out exercising or use them for long plane flights. I gifted one of these to my dad for Christmas, too, and it's his go-to for walks and errand running. It's just an overall easier mask to breathe in (while still maintaining a tight fit and keeping the people around you safe!).

Promising review: "I love this mask. It's comfortable and fits well on the sides. It's multilayer, which gives me peace of mind, but it's not hot nor does it trap my breath, making it uncomfortable when I'm working out. It washes and dries well, but just make sure you give yourself time for it to completely dry before planning to wear again...as I mentioned, it's multilayer, so it takes a little longer (to air-dry). I also wore this mask on recent plane trips that I took for the extra peace of mind. So glad I spent the money on a better-made mask. I'm thinking of ordering another one." —Kristi S.

Promising review: "Recently, thanks to COVID-19, I visited my parents and ended up staying with them to shelter in place. The guest bedroom is small with two beds. Mine is up against a wall. The sheets I bought pop off all the time. Drives me insane in normal circumstances, but when the bed is against a wall, it's so much worse. So far, these have been exactly what I needed." —Dee Fields

5. A popular microwave pasta cooker to make cooking pasta in the dorm microwave a total cinch. Truly all you have to do is put water and dry noodles in it, hit the microwave buttons, and strain it right out of the container. (Warning: all your floormates are about to start demanding free carbs.)

Promising review: "I don't want to get all gushy over a pasta maker, but man...I really love this gizmo! I try to limit my monthly food expenditures and the Fasta Pasta helps me work in at least one inexpensive pasta meal every week. If not more. First of all, I like spaghetti — either with normal Prego-type sauce or sometimes just with butter and Romano cheese sprinkled on. But I'm lazy and impatient and don't like things that take a long time to make, with a bunch of steps, and a big cleanup afterward. The Fasta Pasta is perfect for me. I get the exact amount of correctly-measured spaghetti; it's faster than boiling water in a big pot then having to watch and stir the pasta; the pasta comes out perfectly cooked every time; and the cleanup is a snap. No big pot; no colander; no spaghetti fork to lift out the pasta. Just the easy-to-clean Fasta Pasta and a pot to heat up the sauce. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!" —Smilin Sam

So, I went on a mission to find one that's easy to carry as she likes to put everything in it so she only has to take one long trip to the dorm (laundry, snacks, water bottles, etc.). This fits up and onto her back leaving her hands and arms free! Ahhh...yes, finally a sturdy one! It's still perfect after one month." —SheilaD

The earphone can easily be adjusted and place right by your ears. Charging port is located on the rear end of the headband but you wouldn't even feel it existing. The sound quality is good. And the controls are very satisfying to press. I'm in with love this headband!" —Nico

9. A pack of NeuroGum made with a blend of caffeine and nootropics, designed to give you energy five times faster than regular coffee — without jitters or sluggishness afterward. All of the zing, none of the crash (or 15 mid-lecture trips to the bathroom!!).

Kayla Suazo/BuzzFeed

Here's what BuzzFeed's Kayla Suazo had to say about these: "It’s literally gum with 40 milligrams of caffeine (about half the amount of caffeine in an average cup of coffee), so it’s great to chew throughout the afternoon without having to worry about it keeping you up at night. It also has 60 milligrams of L-theanine, which is the main amino acid in green tea, so you get a natural energy boost without all the sugars that you’d find in energy drinks. THIS MEANS NO JITTERS. NO CRASHING. Just a good ole boost of energy. I was skeptical about this gum at first. I thought there was no way gum could wake me from my afternoon lull and increase my attention so I could get more work done. Guys, I was wrong. This stuff works, and works well. I even gave some to my coworkers, who said they noticed a difference immediately after chewing it. Around 2 p.m., I pop a piece in (I looove the cinnamon flavor) and I have an instant energy boost. It’s magic. There are nine pieces in a pack and I chew about one a day, so an entire box lasts me a month — which isn’t bad considering that it literally gives me life every single day. It's gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, vegan, and non-GMO, and I think it's a way better option than energy drinks."

Get a nine-pack with six pieces of gum each from Amazon for $21.

It's also BPA-free and comes equipped with a flip top lid for protection from germs and debris and a silicone, leakproof spout for easy drinking flow.

Promising review: "I love the finish on the bottle! I hate holding wet water bottles and this does NOT sweat! It also holds two full bottles of 16.9 oz. packages water bottles so it’s very easy to get my full water intake on the go! Easy to carry, fits in my car's cup holders perfectly (not big at all like some water bottles). I got the ombré purple to teal and it’s very true to color. Easy to clean, wide enough for bottle brushes, and the straw stays put. I also love how I just push the little button by the mouthpiece and it just pops open quick for easy drinking (if you’re driving and don’t need to be messing around opening bottles😉). Highly recommend this water bottle. For the price, it’s amazing! Keeps my water cool for hours too." —Alicia

11. A mesh shower caddy so handy and portable it basically just told all the other caddies to go home. This one is super lightweight compared to traditional plastic ones, but just as durable, and has a unique shape that makes room for *ample* pockets so you can comfortably take everything to the bathroom in just one trip.

Promising review: "LONG STORY SHORT: so I'm going to be a freshman in college this year and we all know that communal bathrooms are dreaded so i started to look around for a caddy. A model writing in the planner page of a Rocket notebook
Amazon

It works the same way all their products do — you can write on its pages the way you would a regular notebook, upload the page onto your devices, and wipe the notebook clean with water to use all over again.

Promising review: "I love my Rocketbook! I'm a college student who readily takes 8–12 pages of notes in each of my six classes, and this book is just what I needed to stop carrying around several 2-inch binders loaded with paper! The book is sturdy and stands up well to being crammed in a backpack with textbooks and lab gear, with a hard cover and sturdy spiral design. The app allows you to pick the destinations for your scans when uploading your notes or figures. But it also lets you search by key terms to find notes about specific topics! The clearer your handwriting is, the better, but I don't have the most neat writing myself and I have no issue using the search function. The Frixion pens are also wonderful to write with – just make sure you give them the 10–15 seconds to dry before flipping the page to avoid smudges. And if you do smudge it's okay, because you can quickly erase and rewrite any mistakes. Wiping the pages clean after I'm done uploading is also very easy, and gives me a chance for one last review of my notes. Just use the included towel and a little water and it looks brand new! And now for the best part – environmental consciousness! This book has already saved me from going through REAMS of paper in the month that I've been using it. I also didn't have to buy the binders and dividers that go along with my old organizational style. Every little act of sustainability helps, and the Rocketbook's reusability makes it a much more impactful buy. Get this notebook!" –Amazon Customer

I have a lot of hair and the strands are thick. I’ve been a flat iron user for many, many years but decided to try this on the recommendation of a friend. Not only is it easy to use, it gives my hair the closest thing to a professional blowout at home. There are tutorials online for maximizing the benefits of this dryer." —Jennifer G.

Promising review: "I've bought three of these guys, two for my tech-loaded bedroom (PC, two monitors, Xbox, printer, CPAP machine, Switch, desk lamps, desk fan...) and one for my parents' electronics corner (printer, phone chargers...). We love them. The USB slots alone make these worth the price. Frees up a socket that would normally be a dedicated USB converter. The sockets are spaced out enough that chunky plugs don't block other plugs. The screw prevents the whole assembly from falling out or even wiggling much. Overall, absolutely delighted and glad I stumbled across these. The night-light is a nice touch, too. I wouldn't have missed it if it weren't there, but I love that it is." —Eh?Dub!

Promising review: "I took a chance and bought this originally as a 'Band-Aid fix' to re-finish a desk. I had looked in stores in the contact paper aisles, but all of them were just that ... paper. THIS item is actually a thin sheet of vinyl (?) with adhesive, and I ended up liking it so much I bought more and re-finished my kitchen countertop with it as well! Highly recommended if you want to change the look of your counters but you don't have the money for a full remodel just yet. It can be cleaned with dish soap and water just like a real countertop." —Ezra Boyd

Promising review: "I love this product! Every day I love to enjoy a nice cup of coffee and multiple cups of tea but I’m a slow drinker and within minutes my tea goes cold. I ended up buying almost 10 more for gifts over the holidays especially for all my friends and family who have to work at home during these times." —Sharise

20. *Or* a cold brew coffee maker — this is so gloriously easy to use that all you have to do is stick your favorite ground coffee in the filter, seal the airtight lid on top, and pop it in your mini fridge overnight. Boom, four cups of cold brew to help you power through the five-page essay on the movie you never actually watched.

Promising review: "I have been drinking caffeinated beverages everyday for half my life. Usually brewing hot then cooling it down with ice which was quite a process to do every morning. Then I came across this cold brew pitcher and thought I'd give it a try. It's great, easy to use and clean, very convenient, lasts for a couple of weeks, I love it! Making a pitcher of coffee take less time than a normal brewer and makes enough for at least one cup a day for about a week, depending on how much coffee concentrate is used. I haven't used my normal coffee or espresso machine since I got this cold brew system. The coffee seems to taste better as well, not a huge difference but it's somewhat noticeable." —Birnbaum

32. A five-shelf hanging closet organizer to streamline your closet's aesthetic, which was previously "oops, how did all of these sweaters end up on the floor again?"

Promising review: "I purchased this to free up space in my closet. For years I’ve always laid my sweaters over hangers and hung them up. As you can imagine, that took up most of the hanging space in my closet and resulted in many of my sweaters falling on the floor after slipping off the hanger. This product was super easy to assemble and it holds five to six sweaters per shelf. I love it!" —Nikki

34. A set of colorful cable protectors for your chargers, because someone (*glares in the general direction of Apple HQ*) couldn't be bothered to make versions that don't break like twigs. These will save you from constantly overthinking what position the wire is in when you're worried about them fraying too soon.

I (begrudgingly!!) got these for my Mac charger, because apparently the journey from my bedroom to the living room was just too much for my fragile cord's heart to bear, and it was starting to get worn at the charger end. This spiraled on in less than 10 seconds and has been great in terms of making sure the charger is still flexible and has some give, but isn't bending itself backward and daring me to let it break, either. Also loved how affordable it was compared to a $30 replacement charger. I've been using the same cord with this protector for over a year now, and it's still in tip top shape.

Promising review: "These babies are pretty sturdy and they make putting notes in a book, or planner, or magazine, or whatever a complete breeze. I really like the ease of these and if you are creative you can make these work for any project. I use them in my textbooks to summarize my notes on a chapter. I also have short term memory loss after a car accident, I like reading novels, but can't remember things. So I use one of these as a bookmark, and take a few minutes to jot down key things from the book. I really, really, really like these and I am glad they exist." —Delaney

39. A *super*-compact eight-in-one spiralizer that also grates cheese, juices fruits, and cuts ribbons, and more, so you can occasionally get fancy with dorm snacks and meals without taking up valuable space. All you have to do is change out one of the interlocking caps for a new function.

I purchased this because it was my cheapest option for making zoodles, and also because my old apartment was the size of a shoebox and there was no room for anything bigger. I LOVE how easy it is to swap out the caps to do other things, too — I started grating my own cheeses and feel very fancy. But mostly I just love that it's very safe to use (it comes with a finger guard!), super easy to figure out, very compact, and even has measurements on the inside of the cup if you're ever portioning things out for a recipe.

Promising review: "LOVE THIS. I absolutely love this. So far I've used the thicker spiralizer, two of the grater things, and then the juicer. I love how easy this makes keeping everything together. And it's sharp so it actually cuts through things without you needing to work super hard to do it. The only thing I don't love is that the spiralizers are a bit hard to clean, but I guess that's with all of them? Not sure, this is the first I've owned. But, overall I'd recommend it :)" —Amazon Customer
