It Looks Like Beyoncé Quietly Joined TikTok Last Night, And People Have Tons Of Questions

    This was a power move.

Last night may or may not have marked the beginning of a new era for Beyoncé, whose internet presence is generally pretty sparing and limited to periodic Instagram posts that, like her music, always leave us wanting more.

Given the superstar's relatively low-key social media history, the possibility that Bey could be making additional appearances online some time soon is very exciting. And it looks like she just joined TikTok yesterday.

A verified account bearing the artist's name — and matching Beyoncé's Instagram and Twitter handles — surfaced on the app overnight and has already amassed more than 155k followers. Its bio simply reads "Beyoncé."

Fans quickly spotted the TikTok profile and turned to Twitter with tons of speculation about whether Beyoncé's apparent introduction to the video-sharing platform — where she's provided inspiration for a number of viral dance trends — means there's new music headed our way.

Either that, or we're in for some short-form advertisements tied to her Ivy Park brand, which Beyoncé and her daughters also promoted recently on IG.

There are big things happening in Beyoncé's music career right now though, as she and her husband, Jay-Z, are respectively nominated for Best Original Song at the upcoming Critics Choice Awards in January.

Plus, Bey hinted at other projects in the works during an interview with Harper's Bazaar over the summer. "I've been in the studio for a year and a half," she said. "Sometimes it takes a year for me to personally search through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare. One chorus can have up to 200 stacked harmonies."

"Still, there's nothing like the amount of love, passion, and healing that I feel in the recording studio. After 31 years, it feels just as exciting as it did when I was 9 years old," the Grammy winner continued. "Yes, the music is coming!"

So, do what you will with that information — we'll certainly be keeping an eye out for any updates from Beyoncé on TikTok and beyond.
