5 Beauty Gurus You NEED To Know About

These days it can feel like beauty gurus are a dime a dozen, but these five amazing creators have a unique point of view and never fail to create high quality beauty content!

    1. The Glam Life Guru - Tati

Tati, AKA the Glam Life Guru, is a beauty guru elder. Her first videos went up over 6 years ago and Tati has no issue sharing honestly with her subscribers what an uphill battle it has been. Although today she has upwards of 3 million subscribers Tati started out selling makeup behind the MAC counter and saved up her earnings to buy items for a freelance kit. Over the past 6 years her channel has spiked in popularity due to her creative video ideas and frequent upload schedule.

Tati is best known for her "WTF" series where she tests ultra expensive luxury makeup. Although this series gained early popularity across the YouTube-verse for its shock factor (the first WTF was a review of a $90 decorative Christian Louboutin lipstick), beauty lover's continue to flock to the videos for their sheer curiosity of what's new in the beauty world today. While the average beauty lover may not be able to afford a $60 blush or a $70 concealer, Tati's got our curiosity covered.

With five new videos each week and a review on nearly every new beauty product released, Tati's channel is perfect for any beauty lover curious about what's hot and new in the industry.

    2. Beauty News - Kat and Hailey

This small Australian channel with just over 250,000 subscribers is shaking up the beauty world with a whacky new category of videos. In addition to their twice weekly Beauty News Updates (45+ minute videos covering all beauty related releases, drama, and news), Kat and Hailey of the Beauty News channel are known for their "Make-up Breakup" series where they smash, destroy, and repress popular makeup.

Their most popular video, with 3.8 million views, is "How many swatches to reach the flower", a video in which they destroy the ever-so-popular color-changing jelly flower lipstick. They have destroyed makeup ranging from the infamous ABH Subculture Palette to The Rose Highlighter, reminding the viewer in each video that they destroy these products "for fun...and sometimes to learn something".

Whether you're interested in the investigative aspect of Beauty News or just the enjoyment of seeing the products destroyed in an ultra satisfying fashion, this channel hits the spot.

    3. Jeffree Star

Jeffree Star, arguably the most divisive beauty guru currently, is well known for his over the top lifestyle, popular indie makeup brand, and striking androgynous appearance. Despite having only been seriously involved in YouTube for the last two years, Jeffree Star has been a public figure for over a decade due to his early Myspace-fame and successful pop music career.

Jeffree first attracted negative attention when old tweets containing racist language surfaced. The drama surrounding Star only increased when fellow indie brand owner, YouTuber, and former friend, Kat Von D, publicly ended her friendship with Star. Von D made a long YouTube video dragging Star for a specific incident in which he allegedly failed to pay a friend of her's who did graphic design work for Star's makeup brand.

In her rant, Von D also mentioned her disgust with Jeffree's over the top lifestyle, accusing him of condoning drug use and being shallow and money obsessed. Whether or not you believe Jeffree is problematic, the drama and his over the top lifestyle is what keeps the viewers coming back. From his immensely attractive boyfriend (who he appears to spoil to death) to his "Get Ready With Me in My Rolls Royce" videos and "Supreme X Louis Vuitton Haul"s, Jeffree's channel is like an extremely luxurious train wreck we just can't look away from.

    4. JAMbeauty - Jessica Braun

Jessica Braun, 4 year beauty guru veteran, has one incredibly important quality going for her: relatability. While it can be great to watch some of the almighty successes of the YouTube beauty world, sometimes it can be important to remember that YouTube is a job accessible to anyone with something interesting or important to say about a given topic. While Jessica does review all kinds of beauty products, her reasonably sized makeup collection and focus on drugstore makeup creates a more relatable environment for the average viewer.

Her most popular videos usually involve a smattering of new drugstore makeup products being sorted on her bedroom. If that's not relatable to the average beauty lover, I don't know what is!

    5. Manny MUA

Last, but certainly not least, is the oh-so-adorable Manny MUA. After 3 years on the YouTube grind, Manny's popularity has risen quickly within the last year. High quality editing, willingness to try almost any challenge, and his endlessly lovable personality helped Manny skyrocket to YouTube famedom.

This is a great channel for new product reviews, funny makeup related challenges, and an endless stream of entertaining collabs with YouTube royalty (ex: Miranda Sings, Jeffree Star, and Lilly Sinhgh). Maybe the best part of this channel is Manny's relatable but bad-ass message at the beginning of every video: "if you don't like me, if you don't like this video, please don't fucking watch it."
