Women Are Sharing Their Experiences Of Being “Mom-Bullied” After Whitney Port Shared Her Emotional Account

“Every little encounter like this where I can physically feel them inching away from me just chips away at my self-esteem.”

Ever since she became a mom to Sonny back in 2017, The HillsWhitney Port has been open and honest about all aspects of motherhood in her YouTube series, “I Love My Baby But...”

She’s opened up about everything from mom-guilt to breastfeeding struggles and the decision over whether to have a second child.

But most recently, Whitney has spoken candidly about her recent experience of being “mom-bullied”.

In the emotional video, Whitney began by explaining that she’d been avoided by two moms whom she knew through mutual friends when they’d all attended a panel event for mothers.

Whitney went on to brand the experience “passive-aggressive bullying,” and said it had affected her self-esteem.

Breaking down in tears, Whitney added that the fact she was a “new mother” looking to make “lifelong” friendships made the whole experience even harder to deal with.

And Whitney concluded by saying that she needed to work on her own self-esteem and stop internalising the narrative that she’s “uncool and awkward.”

Within hours of posting the video, it had racked up over 400,000 views on Instagram and sparked a discussion among thousands of commenters. Many of them told Whitney about their own experiences, saying that she “wasn’t alone.”

Some gave her advice, explaining that “making connections with all kinds of people,” rather than just other moms can be helpful.

Some said that making friends in adulthood is difficult whether you’re a mother or not.

While others said women should be more supportive of one another.

And many, many others praised and thanked her for speaking about the issue so openly and honestly.
