John Legend Revealed That IVF And Postpartum Depression Changed His Relationship With Chrissy Teigen

"It deepens and strengthens your relationship."

Over the years, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have been open and honest about their route to becoming parents.

For example, when they announced that Chrissy was pregnant with their first child, Luna, in 2015, they also spoke openly about struggling to conceive and using IVF.

Then, in 2017, Chrissy revealed in an essay for Glamour that she'd been privately experiencing postpartum depression for a year.

Well, John has now spoken out about how the experience of both IVF and postpartum depression has changed them as a couple.

Speaking to People, John explained that becoming parents has "deepened" his love for Chrissy.

“[Parenthood] deepens your love for your partner because you see them in a different light going through — in our case — the trouble of actually having a kid,” he explained.

John went on to say that supporting Chrissy through her postpartum depression exposed him to "different sides" of her and ultimately strengthened their relationship.

"[After having Luna] Chrissy's going through postpartum depression," he explained. "You just see different sides of that person, and you go through it and you learn from it and you come out the other end better for it. Then it deepens and strengthens your relationship."

And John also revealed that he's loving every minute of being a dad, adding that Luna is "uncannily" similar to Chrissy.

"They make us laugh all the time," he said. "Luna has a sense of actual comedy. She is so much like Chrissy it's uncanny."
