How Jonathan Frakes Helped Me Create The Best Bumble Opening Line Of All Time

In a world of tons of potential options and unlimited swipes, online dating in 2019 (aka texting in 2019) is an art form.

    The Challenge

Your Bumble opening message has to be memorable enough to connect, yet general enough to be sent to anyone. It needs to be long enough to stir up a conversation, yet scalable so it can be copied and pasted quickly.

    The Solution

And, I recently found the best opening line that fits all of these criteria.

Yes, I’m talking about this 48-second clip of Jonathan Frakes asking the real questions that will ensure that (almost) everyone you message will want to go out with you...and in a world of unlimited options and swipes, I’ll chalk up a message to interest conversion rate of “almost everyone” as a success.

    Here's what else I learned:

    1. I don’t think I could have put a better foot forward, and I should probably start work emails with a link to this video to increase my response rates.

    2. I didn’t realize people still used Word over Google Docs. (FWIW: it would have been much easier to provide my unsolicited feedback on their responses if it was a shared document).

    3. The questions are very thought-provoking.

    4. And they take max effort to answer...they might even require you to pause Netflix. (Answering random questions from a girl on Bumble is the only time commercial breaks would be valuable in 2019, amirite?).

    5. But they are also hilarious.

    6. The video is a good way to weed out guys who are risk-averse.

    7. Screw oysters, dark chocolate, and tequila - Jonathan Frakes is the most effective aphrodisiac.

    8. Except, some people can’t handle him, so I doubt they would be able to handle me either...thank you, next.

    9. The real way to up your sext game is to add numbers or bulleted lists to your messages (vs. paragraphs which are hard to read and honestly seem to lack enthusiasm).

    10. If asked correctly, guys can be extremely forthcoming about their flaws that might make a relationship difficult, like not having a good memory or not being resourceful, but they aren’t afraid to admit defeat.

    11. Serial killers live among us, and they are the types of people that will spend the night in a cemetery for less than $100,000.

    12. And the biggest lesson I learned is...I should have asked for a royalties kick back on the thousands of views I’ve generated for this video.
