Let’s be honest, many of these apply to all of Wisconsin, but Northeast Wisconsin has a few unique features that us Northeast Wisconsinites can relate to in a special way.

You’ve most likely been to Lambeau Field multiple times, and you may even drive by it every day. It’s no secret that Northeast Wisconsin is the heart of Packer country. Although we share a close familiarity with Lombardi Avenue, the butterflies you feel in your stomach as you walk into the stadium never go away. When it comes to “our” Packers (yes that’s how we refer to them) and the gloriousness of game day, we know how to tailgate. And, you betcha, there will be all the brats, booyah, and cheese curds you can eat.

You have the following events marked on your calendar: Appleton’s Oktoberfest, Mile of Music, A Very Neenah Christmas, Restaurant Week, parades (so many parades), Waterfest, Cheesefest, Paperfest, and all the other “fests.” When you live here, you know we’ve got it going on, and there’s always something to do.

You actually talk to your neighbors, and you do stuff for them. We Northeast Wisconsinites are a friendly breed. When you mow the lawn, you mow your neighbor’s too. When you snow blow your driveway, you make sure to clear your neighbor’s. Here, there’s nothing weird about waving at everyone while driving down your street or bringing someone’s garbage to the curb for them. That’s just what we do.

Your local high school gives kids time off for hunting. Opening week of deer hunting is a big deal here. Tests are rescheduled for it and kids are given time off to head up to “deer camp.” Even if you don’t hunt, you might just own at least one blaze orange outfit. But hey, there’s nothing like venison sausage!

When it comes down to it, Northeast Wisconsin is a great place to live or visit, and there’s truly no place quite like it. Our culture is sure to put a smile on your face, even on the coldest winter day.
