Rodrick Dantzler Murder/Hostage Situation in Grand Rapids, MI
Suspect Rodrick Dantzler is believed to been behind the killing of 7 people in Grand Rapids, Mich. At 2 different locations, 2 children and 5 adults were killed during the afternoon. A call from a women who believed Rodrick was following her and was going to kill her, brought Grand Rapids Police cruisers to her aid. Gunshots were then fired, several striking a police cruiser and women in another vehicle, throughout the downtown area. A pursuit ensued through downtown Grand Rapids and I-96 as the vehicle drove against traffic and eventually was ditched due to damaged. On foot, Rodrick ran from the vehicle and kicked in the door of an apartment and took several hostages. (Update) Rodrick turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. The hostages were release unharmed.
Pencil Drawing Wins $250,000 ArtPrize
Artist Chris LaPorte entered his 28 ft. wide by 8 ft. high pencil drawing entitled Cavalry, American Officers, 1921 into the ArtPrize competition in Grand Rapids, MI. His sweet, photo realistic drawing just won him $250,000. The others in the competition didn't make out too bad either. 2nd place received $100,000, 3rd place received $50,000 and 4th through 10th received $7,000 a piece. The competition included over 1,700 artists.
