I’m Bad At Baking But Spent An Afternoon Trying To Redeem Myself With These Cookie Kits — Here’s How It Went

Read on to see if I set off any fire alarms.

Hi, I'm Isabella and I'm a notoriously bad baker. The last time I baked something was for a holiday treat exchange. My cookies were so bad, my friends still bring them up today.

Somehow, Duncan Hines got wind of my complete kitchen ineptitude. My theory is it has a department that keeps tabs on the World's Worst Bakers (for the safety of the community).

Duncan Hines promised they were designed with people like me in mind. Picture worthy treats that are easy AND quick to make? I'll be the judge of that, I thought.

I started with the Cookie Dough Cookie Bar Kit. Besides what it included in the box, it only needed eggs and butter. Sweeeeeet, two ingredients even non-bakers have on hand.

Surprisingly successful at cracking an egg with one hand, I was off to an amazing start with the first sugar cookie layer.

Then I layered both in my lil' pan and that was it! Prep time was pretty quick, and I sent it off to the oven with a hopeful wave.

When it came out of the oven perfectly baked (and smelling divine), I almost cried.

All that was left was to let it cool and cover it in this delicious cookie dough icing.

TA-DA!

These Cookie Dough Cookie Bars were soooo good. With two different kinds of cookies, PLUS a cookie dough flavoured frosting to top it all of, these are truly a cookie lover's DREAM.

I was feeling utterly unstoppable so I decided to tackle the Birthday Cake Cookie Kit next. It is my birthday month after all.

Let's just say I was living my professional baker fantasy at this point.

I put my 12 beautiful creations in the oven and 9 minutes later, they were ready. Like, should I open a bakery? Cause at this point I was seriously questioning.

Transforming these birthday cake cookies into birthday cake cookie sandwiches was so fun because it meant I was one step closer to eating them.

After dabbing the frosted edges in sprinkles, it was time for a taste test.

They tasted exactly how they look: absolutely delicious. Not only would these be perfect for birthday parties but they'd also kill at any kind of celebration.

Final verdict: Not only was I super impressed with MYSELF but I was also honestly really impressed with these Duncan Hines EPIC Baking Kits. They look like they took a ton of effort to make but in reality were truly effortless. They weren't lying!
