1. Nigerian

Looking for the perfect food to order in? Nigerian cuisine consists of dishes from the many ethnic groups that make up Nigeria's population. Like many West African cuisines, it uses spices and herbs with palm or groundnut oil to make delicious sauces and stews. Some traditional foods include egusi, suya, and joloff rice.

2. Ethiopian

Ethiopian food characteristically consists of veggies and spicy meat dishes called wat that is served on top of a delicious flatbread called injera. If you're looking to dip your toe into Ethiopian cuisine, start with doro wat, a hugely popular chicken and egg stew. Ethiopian food also has a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, so it's a great choice for people with dietary restrictions.

3. Jamaican

Next time your stomach is rumbling, give Jamaican cuisine a try. Jamaican food is heavily influenced by different cultures and people including Tainos, Africans, European, Chinese and Indians. This melding of multicultural cuisines has brought us Jamaican classics like jerk chicken, Jamaican meat patties, ackee and saltfish, and callaloo. Many of these dishes are given an extra kick by the Scotch bonnet pepper, a pepper that is native to the island.

4. Haitian

Haitian cuisine draws its influence from French, West African, and Caribbean foods. You might want to try soup joumou — a delicious pumpkin soup with a rich history. As the story goes, French colonizers used to enjoy a sort of pumpkin soup that Haitian slaves were forbidden from eating. Haiti won its independence in 1804 through a slave revolt — the first successful one since the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade. Haitians now commemorate their freedom by eating soup joumou, mild Caribbean pumpkin cooked with beef stock, on New Year's Day.

5. Trinidadian

Trinidadian food reflects a fusion of African (mainly West African), Creole, Indian-South Asian, Chinese, Amerindian, Arab, European, and Latin American-Spanish-Portuguese cuisines. Popular dishes include roti, aloo pie, and curry goat. If you're vegetarian or vegan, there are a ton of options when it comes to Trinidadian food. 6. Ghanaian
