FLCL Fooly Cooly
This is either a coming of age story on steroids or our laundry is really out to get us.That may not make sense now but neither is this anime. It's chaotic, wholesome, mythical and nostalgic at the same time. I don't know if I'm going to see a robot with wings or a love scene. If you like something that keeps up with your active imagination and gives you spectacular cinematic eye candy. This is the romantic, magical girl, action, mecha & rock anime for you.
Kill La Kill
Now this what I call the creme de la creme of action anime. Though it's not that old Kill La Kill became an instant classic when it came out. if you want to show someone a show to explain what anime is smashed into a colorful, outlandsih and violent package this is the show. Funny, perverted, sentimental, action packed, and a little bit scary Kill la Kill does not disappoint. Though it may not be everybody's cup of tea I think it should be added to any anime lover's list.

Animal girl gone wrong, a girl turns into and animal and tries to find a way to turn back while also learning what it's like to be an animal human hybrid. Honestly everything I thought and wanted zootopia to be but better.
Gurren Lagan
*Sobs in weeaboo* . One of the OG Mecha anime this is a must watch for it's creative plot and amazing story-telling. I don't want to give too much to say but let's just say there are a lot of digging, mystery, and heartbreak.
Devilman Crybaby
This was a weird one, a battle of good vs evil in a world full of gray. Who will prevail and who is to say one should win over the other. You're not sure which is good which is bad and that will keep you on your toes this entire anime. Playing on the classical hell vs heaven troupe this anime gives a new twist to the age old tale with an unexpected ending and intense storyline.

A girl thrown into hell makes new friends with demons while trying to escape hell. I thought this was going to be typical find the golden grail and you'll be free type of anime but it actually has some depth and a storyline with some biblical history. It's more on the comedic side but the plot still shines through.
