Starting college with many different types of access to help is the best way to start off your college career. It’s not easy to transition from high school to college without the right kind of help.

1. Peer mentoring

A program where older students from the university mentor the incoming freshmen. Every mentor has a group of mentees and the mentor is there to help the mentee with many things. This a good program because the mentor knows what it’s like to be in a new life-changing situation and most likely know what you are going through and will be going through.

2. An advisor

Your advisor is like your counselor, there to help you with academic problems. They are there to answer any questions you may have. Your advisor steers you in the right direction for your future. Speaking from personal experience if you have a great counselor it makes it easy for you as a student.

3. Tutoring

Tutors are here to help us succeed in any subject you would need help in. These tutors already took these classes so they know what you should look out for and, what resources to use to help you succeed in that specific subject. As my advisor said, “you are already paying for it so you should use it, if you don't, you are paying for other students to use it.”

4. Your teachers

Your teacher is the one teaching you, so it would make the sense to ask him/her if you need any kind of help. They are here for their students’ success. And that's why teachers have office hours.

This is an iffy one because not all friends are there to help out their friends, but of those selfish friends, there is always at least one friend to give you advice, lift your spirits when you thought all hope is gone, and help you push through the tough times.

The library (shhhhhhhh) is one of the best resources to help students prosper. In a library, there are people there to help you which makes it easy to ask for the help you need. Aside from the classroom, the library is the where any students overcoming failure would go.

The INTERNET... seems like an unlikely source but not everything you find on the internet should be presumed as bad. It’s up to you to choose which advice is good or bad. The internet has resources for everything and you can search without anyone having to know who you are.

"It is never a good idea to study by yourself." In a study group, you can all help each other out and explain things to each other in a way you will both understand. It is sometimes better to have someone explain the concept to you than you having to figure out what something means.

All students learn differently and some students have a better understanding of having a peer explain it to them rather than a teacher. That's why in high school, some teacher had projects where groups of students go up to teach the class, which is the worst.

They give tips on how to be a successful student and may even be applicable to you later in life, and ways to receive help to become a successful student like creating a cover letter and resume.
