We yearn connection yet push it away; because we’re afraid. We dream about ‘someday’, never trying out today. We advocate for change but are unwilling to change. We talk about standing for the right but look away when the wrong is in front of our eyes. Proclaim ignorance to be bliss and yet seek knowledge. Preach compassion yet feign indifference. Live with an unreasonable passion for everything we love but completely dismissive of what isn’t the same as our opinion. We seek love, but fear loss. We ask questions, we don’t really want answered. We wish people weren’t judgmental, but never stop being critical ourselves.
We love the summers when it’s winter. We love the rains when it’s sunny. We love love, when its ours.
We’re beautiful and just as broken.
We’re silly hypocrites living a lie,
Bitter beings, who judge and hate
and yet are capable of love and life.
