5 George Michael Videos That Are STILL Awkward To Watch With Your Parents

George Michael was a master provocateur and culture-shaper throughout the 80's and 90's. Even though times have changed (hey: POTUS can now say the word 'sucks' in public without appearing vulgar), some of George Michael's early music videos will still make you squirm when watched in mixed company.

    5. Faith

Released in 1987 and directed by Andy Morahan, the Faith video was tame by comparison to some others on this list. But it does invite...err...insist that the viewer comment on George Michael's oft-highlighted bum, which shakes persistently throughout at close range. This can definitely lead to some odd moments with the parents. Especially when Dad feels the need to wiggle along. #lifeimitatingart

    4. Too Funky

Many people seem to have forgotten this video, remembering instead David Fincher's glam-packed "Freedom! '90" as 'the supermodel video.' But if you're looking for amped-up sexuality that's a bit more avant-garde (read: impossible for the parents to understand), Thierry Mugler's "Too Funky" delivers it right from the opening frame. From the unapologetically erotic lyrics to that motorcycle outfit (#mystyle) at 1:16, the whole thing is like a sci-fi, bootsy-meets-bombshell sorta funkfest. Either way, the 'rents will stare bewildered and twitch at some of the outfits. #toofunky

    3. Father Figure

Another Andy Morahan special, this video starts off innocently enough... and then WHAM! (pun intended) it gets all Top-Gun-80s-Love-Scene-y at 1:54 and doesn't back off the bedroom bump and grind for the rest of its five and a half minutes. This is your queue to hurriedly stand up and ask if anyone needs anything to drink. #awkward

    2. Careless Whisper

How does Careless Whisper rank higher on this list than Father Figure? Surely Father Figure outpunches it with total number of awkward bedroom moments? True. But then this one has that whole white-bathing-suit-on-the-end-of-the-yacht sequence at 1:56 with that saxophone track underneath it. Thus, it outmaneuvers Father Figure in the awkwardness department. Especially when Mom reminds you she still owns just such a bathing suit. #tmi

    1. I Want Your Sex

Could there be any doubt that "I Want Your Sex" would top the list of worst parent offenders? You can try outlining the positives here: the woman in the video was George Michael's then-girlfriend Kathy Jeung and the song underlines the importance of monogamy. #benefits. Perhaps the most enlightened parents will see its virtue, but for most it's a case of #parentsjustdontunderstand.
