Why We Need MTV's Spring Break Back

A desperate plea to return the television that gave me faith in humanity. @MTV, I know you're out there. It was 1986. The hair was high and the bikini bottoms were higher. It was the first year of MTV's Spring Break edition and they started in beautiful Daytona, Beach. From 1986 to 2006, MTV provided college kids the party of the century. I was definitely a little too young to see a wet t-shirt contest but I remember, before learning about objectification of women's bodies, wanting to be on the stage just like the rest of them. If you're a first generation Millenial, this post will bring back all the feels of sitting at home watching thousands of people having the spring break you wanted but knew you could never have.

1. The Fashion - I know I'm not the only one who ran to Target or Wal-Mart to get a swimsuit that would make me look just like Vanessa Minnilo

2. The Stars

Everybody who was anybody was at Spring Break. They even had Destiny's Child BEFORE it was only Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle. (not pictured: Destiny's Child)

MTV was all spring break, all the time. So when they weren't showing footage of the beach, they were airing Spring Break Challenge. We got to revisit some of our favorite stars from Road Rules and Real World and most importantly, T.J Lavin (not pictured: T.J. Lavin)

4. The Performances

There is absolutely nothing more iconic than RuPaul performing Supermodel on stage in a fierce bathing suit. In the words of the queen, you better work.

5. The Carson Daly

Strangely I had a crush on Carson Daly and I know I'm not the only one. He was the epitome of MTV and when I see him on The Voice, all I can think of is TRL and that is not a bad thing.

6. And last, but not least, it gave us false hope of what our Spring Break could be and isn't that what this country is built on?
