    Demi Lovato

A short essay on why Demi Lovato is one of the most underrated celebrities out there.

Demi Lovato is definitely one of the most underrated celebrities out there. In case you have no idea who Demi Lovato is, (have you been living under a rock your whole life??)

Here's a short introduction about who she is:

24 year old singer/songwriter/actress/activist got her start on Barney and Friends back in 2002 but got her recognition 6 years later when she starred on the Disney Channel Original Movie, 'Camp Rock' and then got her own TV show, 'Sonny With A Chance' which later got cancelled due to her personal issues getting worse and therefore resulting her to check into rehab.

So moving on about Demi, she actually speaks up about important issues and has been a voice to younger ones, helping them deal with issues she has dealt with in the past. Also, she has been a huge impact to this industry, not going to lie! She's spreading mental health awareness, standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, starting her own school-advocacy program, launching anti-bullying campaigns and so much more! Girl co-owns the rehab facility where she was treated and brought it with her on tour and it featured notable speakers and group workshops to inspire fans and erase the stigma around asking for help! Demi visited Kenya multiple times and even spent her 21st Birthday volunteering there with Free The Children back in 2013! She traveled to Kurdistan for a refugee campaign and met with the Kurdistan Regional Government PM Nechirvan Barzani. Demi was also named as one of the most charitable celebrities of 2016 and as one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2017. She celebrated her 5th year of sobriety earlier this year and chose 5 organizations to give back to.

Not to mention, she has an amazing voice! Girl is a powerhouse and can belt like no other! She can literally slay any genre from pop to rock to R&B. Her songs Skyscraper, Warrior, Believe In Me, etc have such strong meaning and have inspired millions around the world. Demi is also easily one of the best vocalists of this generation hands down! She has a total of 3B+ views on her Vevo Channel and all her albums are certified AT LEAST gold in the US. She also writes most of her songs unlike many other artists. Demi is currently working on her 6th studio album which is bound to be released by the end of 2017.

Demi's book 'Staying Strong 365 Days A Year' topped the New York Times bestseller and was praised for giving an inspiring and uplifting vibe. Oh I forgot to mention that Demi broke the record for being the youngest ever judge on X Factor! Yes that's right, she sat right on those seats next to Britney Spears and Simon Cowell. Oh and her acting!! Demi made many guest appearances on hit TV shows like Prison Break, Grey's Anatomy and as well as Glee! She recently starred in the animated and all-new take on The Smurfs, voicing Smurfette and aside from that, she is also starring in the upcoming American-Canadian animated musical movie with Sia, Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale and ex Wilmer Valderrama.

Over her career, Demi has received over a 100 nominations and won a total of 46+ awards including, 14 Teen's Choice Awards (TCA), 1 Video Music Award (VMA), an Artistic Award of Courage and a Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Vanguard Award for being a member of the entertainment community who has made a significant difference in promoting equal rights for LGBT people.

The thing I love about her the most is, she is one of the most vocal, honest and realest celebrities out there. People ask her questions on interviews and she answers them HONESTLY. She might have said a few things that were worded wrong in the past but that is HER opinion. Everyone has different opinions and we should respect that. It's better to be extra rather than fake, right? It's very, very wrong to bully her because of her opinions considering what she has gone through in the past.

So before you want to hate on her, think twice about what she has done to help and question yourself about what you did instead. And always remember that sales do not matter at all. What matters is the purpose of your music and how many people it has impacted and I think you have shown that with your past 5 albums.

    Love you Demi!

P.S. sorry for my terrible grammar!
