Before 2Pac vs Biggie, there was Bell vs Edison. The beef? Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. But Thomas Edison, his laboratory rival, coined "hello" as the greeting. Insisting Edison had stolen his moment, Bell allegedly campaigned in vain to challenge the wildly popular greeting. By the time people began using "hello" in person, Bell is said to have secretly gone insane trying to invent a better telephone greeting.
