6 Reasons Why the "Avatar: The Last Airbender" Obsession Needs to Die Already

The show debuted twelve years ago, and ended almost ten years ago. Why are we still obsessing over it?

1. It's a kid's show

It aired on Nickelodeon. Yeah, it's something we enjoyed in elementary school or middle school, or even high school, but if you're over 18, go watch something on HBO.

2. Boring comic books

Comic books can be good, so use your comic book reading time wisely, not waiting for the new Korra comic book to come out.

3. The movie sucked

Even fans should agree with this one. Not to mention the whitewashed cast.

4. So much cultural appropriation

Sure, Hollywood needs to be more representative of Asians and Asian culture, but the remakes of Death Note and Ghost in the Shell don't cut it. Avatar: The Last Airbender, created by two white men, doesn't cut it either.

5. Stupid Kickstarters

Maybe I could understand the games that have been made, but one person is trying to write an entire book on the political themes of the show. Are there political themes? I guess, I just don't want to waste my time trying to pick them out.

6. Unfunny "sh*tbending" groups

As if the sh*tposting groups weren't already annoying, people decided to create not one but two "sh*tbending" groups on Facebook. Nobody actually thinks you're funny.
