    Fashion Must-Haves For Summer 2018

These ladies' fashion trends are going to be sizzlin' hot this summer.

See-through clothes, vinyl, and a reboot of the 1980s fanny bags … oh my! Some of the fashion trends for summer 2018 may make you do a double-take.

But if those trends don’t catch your eye the right way, there will be a ton of other trends to take part in this summer. It’s just a matter of finding the one that’s right for you, and deciding whether you want a hint of the look or a lot of it.

Listed below are some of the many ladies’ fashion trends that are going to be sizzling hot this summer:

    Patterns, colors and shapes

Pastels. Sherbet colors are going to be big, along with other soft colors – such as lavender.

See-through and sheers. Yep. Summer fashions will include lots of color (as mentioned above) … and no color. See-through outwear (such as trench coats and jackets) – some even made out of plastic or vinyl – will be seen (or, not seen?) a lot.

Don’t think “cheap” when you hear about plastic or vinyl outerwear. For example, Chanel has a chic, plastic cape for you to rock during a little wet weather. You can bet that Chanel cape isn’t cheap!

Sheer blouses and dresses will also become very commonplace. And many will leave little to the imagination.

It’s a matter of how far you want to take it. Some women will pair the sheer top with a fitted camisole. Others will only wear a bra underneath the sheer top. And if your answer is “none of the above,” a vinyl tote bag or mini-knapsack will keep you in step with the trend.

Floral prints. Don’t get your prints twisted, ladies. You want floral prints, not tropical prints. Just sayin’ …

Polka dots. Prepare your eyes right now. You may walk down a crowded street and swear you’re seeing spots. Big ones. Small ones. Guess what? You will be! Polka dots will be a huge trend, and they will be everywhere. On clothes, bags, hats, shoes, accessories.

A head-to-toe polka dot look is not advisable. Try it as an accent to a solid outfit or pair a polka dot clothing item with other solid-patterned clothing items and solid-patterned accessories. You’ll still make your point.

Checks and tartans. These two patterns never really went out of style. But they are not usually associated with summer. Incorporate the patterns wisely into your summer wardrobe … daywear, eveningwear, active-wear – even swimwear. Accessories (bags, purses, belts and scarves) are terrific ways to “get in check” and to “ride the tartan trend train.” All aboard!

Ruffles. Big or small. A few or a lot. It’s up to you. But ruffles are going to show up on clothing a lot this summer. You’ll see them mostly in blouses, skirts, and dresses. It’s a very feminine look.

Geometric cut-outs. You’ll spot these in blouses and dresses as well as swimsuits and shoes. This style has already angled its way into springtime trends, and no one is saying cut it out.

Asymmetry. Asymmetrical necklines and hemlines are already popular in dresses, blouses and skirts. This trend will only get hotter this summer.

    Must-have clothing

Trench coats. There will be some delightfully different takes on the traditional trench coat. There will be light ones, long and short, that will work in the summertime – maybe for the office, evenings, or for the occasional summer rain that pops up here and there.

Layer-able light denim. Denim is not new and is always in style. What’s new in denim in summer 2018 is the amount of denim people are wearing all at once. There will be denim layering and denim accessories. The denim we’re talking about is much lighter than the denim used in jeans, btw.

White T-shirts. A white T-shirt can be put under a blazer or cardigan and can complete a business casual look along with trousers or khakis.

Or, a white T-shirt can be paired with a flowy skirt and sandals for a casual look for running errands on the weekend. This look can also work nicely for low-key outings, such as a backyard barbecue.

There is so much you can do with one of these T-shirts. They look the best when they are well-made and slightly fitted.

Best of all, you don’t have to spend lots of money to get a quality white T-Shirt. Models and movie stars (or should I say, their stylists) have been doing this for a long time: Buy their T-shirts and other minor clothing pieces and places such as H&M, and Old Navy. But you can trust that the jeans and jackets paired with those white T-shirts cost at least $100 each. Hey … don’t judge. Rich people like probably bargains, too!

I’d follow their lead on the T-shirts and find affordable options. Goodness knows, there are enough fashion trends that can be pricey!

Pencil skirts. They’ve never gone out of style, but the popularity of pencil skirts is expected to skyrocket this season. This cut works for office wear, evening wear, or casual wear. And it creates a nice silhouette that’s ultra-feminine and chic.

    Accessories

Jewelry. Summertime and jewelry seem to go hand-in-hand. That’s probably because more of the arms, legs and necks are exposed in the warmer weather.

But for summer 2018, we will see a lot of statement earrings – something more than the traditional hoops or studs. The beauty of this trend is that there is no one particular style of statement earrings that everyone is getting. So, there’s room for individual style while keeping with the statement earring trend.

Also, we’ll see some thin anklets, thick wrist cuffs and dainty, small ear cuffs. But really, any sort of jewelry you wear this summer will keep you in style. Going without jewelry completely … umm … not so much.

Just like white T-shirts, you don’t have to pay a lot of money to participate in this summer’s jewelry trend AND have quality products. In Season Jewelry is one of the more popular spots for finding quality, affordable jewelry to compliment your summertime look that is on point with the latest trends. In Season gets new product arrivals often, making it easy to freshen up a look without spending a fortune.

Belt bag. If you’re old enough to remember “fanny packs” or “fanny bags” – or are curious enough to have Googled it and laughed for days – this next summertime trend might make you cringe.

The fanny pack gets a reboot and is re-born as the “belt bag,” aka the “bum bag.”

There’s no telling how long this comeback will stay, or if it will fade away like a mouth full of cotton-candy at a summer fair.

Belts. The kind of belt is up to you. But if you wear a belt – over a jacket, with pants, with a skirt, a belt chain over a dress, you will be working that trend like a part-time job!

    Shoes

Mules will overrun most other shoes in popularity this summer season. Mules work with jeans. And depending on the type of heel, mules also work with skirts, shorts, dresses. Square-toed mules are making the rounds, too.

Toe-ring sandals and heels are also making a comeback. My condolences for those who hate to have anything between their toes! But it is a chic shoe look, if you can bare it.

White kitten heels, as specific as this sounds, will also be a trend to step out in.

These are the trends emerging as the hottest things this summer. Take the trends and make it your own!
