As you probably know by now, the University closes for the Christmas break, which means that the residence halls close too! All residents are asked to move out of their rooms within 24 hours of their final exam. In rare cases students can stay beyond that date, but all residents must be out by noon on December 18, 2016

Yeah, your room needs to be in good shape while you are away. In order to ensure the safety of the halls, University Staff will be entering each space to double check that there are no potential hazards in the space.

Please:

* Clean your room
* Empty the trash
* Turn off your faucets
* Turn off your lights

Really, you are, and we love you for it. However, we don't want any other kind of fires in the halls, especially when nobody is here. Please make sure to unplug ALL your appliances, yes that means your refrigerator too.

We suggest getting a towel and sticking it in there so it can defrost correctly, and doing it 24 hours BEFORE you leave (it can get moldy if you just leave it to defrost). DON'T leave it in the bathroom, anything in common areas will be disposed of over the break.

please note that there will be periodic power outages over the break, and we can't be responsible for any damages caused by these outages, unplugging items will prevent any such concerns.

Yep, nobody is in the halls, so the heat doesn't need to be up quite so much. Please set your room temperature to 62 degrees, or have the radiator on a low setting.

For those of you graduating, transferring or taking time away for the spring semester.

Please do the following:

* Complete all paperwork with your academic school

* Complete cancellation paperwork with housing services (housing.cua.edu)

* Make sure you have talked with someone in the Office of the Dean to Students to complete all other necessary forms.

* Let your RA know when you intend to check out of your room, they will need to be there to accept your key and inspect your room.

Hopefully we can avoid the big mistakes, but new roommates do mean new faces! Ok, so it could be a him needing that vacancy. Either way, if you have a vacancy in your room, please make sure that none of your items are in that space. Someone may well be assigned to that space over the holiday and will need to be able to get into the room in January.

For real though. Finals is an important time for everyone. Please do your part by respecting your neighbor and keeping noise to a minimum. We all need a good study environment! 24 Hour Quiet hours (meaning we shouldn't hear noise coming from your room as close as one door away) starts at 11:59pm on December 11, 2016.
