18 Realities Of Living With An Invisible Disease

Living with an invisible disease can be incredibly challenging. Especially when people can't actually see how sick you are.

    1. Everyone thinks you look fine

    2. People think you are faking it.

    3. …or over-exaggerating.

    4. Some people think you’re lazy.

    5. Dealing with ignorance about invisible diseases is exhausting.

    6. And at times you even question whether you are actually sick.

    7. It can make you feel CRAZY!

    8. Everyone has well-meaning advice…which tends to not be helpful.

    9. Because you have tried everything from changing your diet, to physical therapy, to acupuncture.

    10. You take so many pills a day, you are basically a walking pharmacy.

    11. Time is really messed up. The days take forever to pass, and yet, six months can feel like one long, continuous day.

    12. It’s all about balancing your good days and bad days.

    13. It can be really hard to cope with where your life is, versus where you wanted your life to be.

    14. Some doctors are assholes. They seem to have a mental block that invisible diseases exist.

    15. But once you find your doctor, you’ll stick with them until the end.

    16. (Unless you have to stick with the asshole doctor because they provide the best treatment.)

    17. There’s a lot of anger inside, and no one to blame.

    18. You have become a better person because of the hell you have to deal with.
