Who I Am Becoming

I feel like the presidential election tends to have an impact on people's lives, but especially this year's election. Obviously, this election caused more uproar than most. I feel like it had a bad impact of my view of the world, though. It wasn't even that I thought both candidates were unworthy of running our country, it was how people handled the entire situation: the riots, the ignorant tweets, the hashtag #NotMyPresident. While I wasn't overly happy with the results, I realize this is going to be my life for the next 4-8 years. He is our president. So, I guess it was mostly people's ignorance and inability to accept life as it truly is that negatively impacted my view of the world.

The new thing that I have tried that is most unlike myself is working out. I've always been like "Why workout when I can eat like 5 chocolate bars and a half a pizza and not hate my life?" Well, I got to college and had waaaay too much time on my hands, so my roommate and I started working out. We found that it brought up morale, as well as, keeping us active.

Newfound trait

A character trait of mine that has revealed itself this semester is self-control. It's not like I never had any before or that I even have a great amount now; however, I can see and feel myself being more responsible as time goes on. The biggest way I see this lived out is in saving money. I would've thought it would have been more difficult to save without my parents constantly reminding me that if I run out of money I'm on my own. However, I have found that it has been easier for me to save my money on my own. The fact that it's my own conscious choice and I don't spend money to spite my parents, is what makes it easier for me to be more frugal. I still have a lot of room to improve, but I'm proud of where I've come in just a few months.

Something I've learned in class...

I'm in a logic class this semester, and while I don't necessarily like this class, I've learned a lot. This class has taught me how to think in a different way and really break a thought, argument, or sentence down. It's definitely opened my eyes to flaws in people's logic, as well as, the way people argue.

Living in the dorm has taught me a lot. It has taught me not only how to live with someone (my best friend) in such close quarters, but how to handle living with strangers. My biggest problem has been sharing a bathroom. I share a bathroom at home with my two siblings, but I have known them my entire life. It doesn't gross me out if they leave a mess or bother me if they take a long shower. Sharing a bathroom with strangers is a whole new level of weird; you get pretty comfortable when you're in that close of proximity with one another. However, it has been a good experience and has definitely taught a lot. Nonetheless, I really like my suite mates and have had the best experience with my roommate.

Future Goals

My goals for the Spring semester are to branch out more, continue making good grades, and to hopefully lock down a major. I think these are all things that are slowly coming together, but that I want to continue working toward.
