All The Questions Left Unanswered By The 'GoT' Series Finale

We all have a lot of feelings about the finale of the biggest television show on the planet, but let's put the whole underdeveloped character plots aside for a moment, and focus on the logistics of what went down in the final episode. (But just one more time for the people in the back: MY KHALEESI DESERVED BETTER! Okay, I'm done, just had to get it out of my system.)

1. Who is Azor Ahai?

For eight seasons, we've been listening to the red preistesses preaching about the prince (or princess) that was promised. The one who would bring the dawn and fulfill the Lord of Light's great mission. So who was it? Was it Dany, who sacrified her life's mission to fight the army of the dead? Was it Jon, who brought together ice and fire to fight the White Walkers? Was it Arya, who killed the Night King? I guess we'll never know.

2. What happened to the valonqar prophecy?

When Cersei was young, a witch told her that her younger brother would kill her. She always took this to mean Tyrion. Are we supposed to believe that Tyrion working with Dany to destroy King's Landing was this prophecy being fulfilled? Or was it really Jamie who led her down to the cellar of the Red Keep to be smothered, who actually fulfilled the prophecy?

3. What was the point of finding out Jon's true parentage?

YEARS. We spent YEARS waiting to find out who Jon Snow's parents were. Once we finally saw what happened in the Tower of Joy, and learned that Robert's rebellion was based on a lie, we were sure that Jon Snow was the prince that was promised. He never wanted a crown, and yet he was the heir to the biggest crown of all. Jon Snow will go down in history as one of the most famous and complicated fictional characters...whose lifelong battle to protect Westeros was all for naught.

4. How did Dany go from 'Mhysa' to 'Mad Queen'?

It's no secret that character development went out the window with this final season of Game of Thrones. Maybe if it hadn't been so rushed, the audience could have accepted Dany's descent into madness. But as we saw it, she went from saving the North from the army of the dead to torching a city filled with thousands of innocent people. She was our princess who was promised, who freed slaves, and fought bad guys. She instructed the Unsullied to "harm no child." She locked up her dragons when Drogon killed a little girl. She sacrificed her armies and her children to save the innocent people of the North, just to kill the innocent people of the South? English majors everywhere, here is your thesis project: explain this to me.

5. How did a castle fall on Jamie and Cersei while leaving them completely in tact?

Barely even a scratch! I only took one physics class in high school, but I did learn about the force of this thing called gravity. The law of gravity states that when a building falls on you, you get crushed! As in, head smushed a la Oberyn Martell style.

6. Where the hell did all of those Unsullied come from?

Grey Worm closed the trench outside Winterfell, leaving a majority of his army to perish with the army of the dead. We all saw it. So where did all of these soldiers come from? Maybe 1/4 were left after the Battle of Winterfell? You're telling me no one in production watched this scene and was like, "wow, we can't count at all"?

7. If the Unsullied went to Naarth, why did Jon have to go to the Night's Watch?

Tyrion explains that the Unsullied wanted Jon's head for killing Dany, but then we see the Unsullied leave for Naarth. What are the chances they are coming back? Why couldn't Jon just wait until they left, then make his move? Come on people, play the game!

8. How's everything going in Mereen?

Did Daario make himself King of Mereen in Dany's absence? Do you think Drogon is over there hanging out with him? How are a group of mercenaries ruling a whole bay of cities? WHAT IF Daario heard about what Jon did and came back to kick his ass? There's a spin-off we all need.

9. How did Sam get the Citadel to forgive him?

Did they not notice his *scandalous* book theft? Do they not care that he saved Jorah and then peaced out?

10. Where did Varys' letters go?

We saw him burn one letter before Grey Worm came to take him away, but what happened to the rest of them? Do they other Lords of Westeros know that Jon is the heir? Why didn't anyone bring that up at the meeting at the dragon pit? Did he just not send the letters? We. Need. Answers.
