The 14 Phases Of Applying To Grad School

Tis’ the season for final exams and college seniors are gearing up for their last hurrah in undergrad. Some are ready to go out into the real world for some serious ~adulting~ but others are gearing up for even MORE school. Although you are probably applying to study your heart’s passion, the roller coaster that is getting through applications is not something you EVER missed.

    1. Feeling good and excited about your choice to better your future to study a subject that is important to you.

    2. When you start looking into programs and the possibility of traveling to a new city:

    3. When you look at the average GPAs of the program

    4. Stress eating.

    5. Using your paycheck to buy study materials for standardized tests.

    6. Beginning the wonderful journey of studying for standardized tests that have nothing to do with what you studied in undergrad.

    7. Starting to look into programs like an online MBA with GMAT Waiver or a Grad School with a GRE waiver, and hoping your current resume qualifies you, so you don’t have to do math again.

    8. Taking the test anyway.

    9. Writing a "personal statement" that is just one big humble-brag.

    10. Considering becoming a social media personality because that requires less writing.

    11. Writing the essays anyway, but with the vocabulary of a true ~intellectual~.

    12. Hitting the "submit" button all of the applications knowing your future rides on this moment.

    13. Realizing that the stress of writing the applications doesn’t even compare to waiting to see if you got in to at least one program.

    14. Finally kicking back after that first acceptance.
