A Man Has Been Charged After A Teenager Was Raped Twice In Separate Incidents In One Night

Police said the 14-year-old girl was first assaulted inside Birmingham's Witton station – then again in a car she had flagged down for help.

A 27-year-old man has been charged with rape after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted twice in one night in separate attacks.

Khurram Rahi, of Rosefield Road, Smethwick, will appear before magistrates in Birmingham on Monday over an incident that took place at Witton train station on Tuesday 25 July.

A 34-year-old man, from the Birmingham area, who was also arrested on Saturday morning on suspicion of rape, has been released under police investigation while inquiries continue.

According to British Transport police, the 14-year-old victim was with a friend at the Witton rail station in Birmingham at around 7pm on Tuesday when she was raped.

The girl left the station around 2am and was disoriented. She then flagged down a vehicle, and after getting into the car, she was raped again, police said.

The man in the vehicle was described as heavy-set with large biceps and approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall.

“This case has gained national interest and I am pleased we are now in a position to charge a man in connection,” said Detective Chief Inspector Tony Fitzpatrick. "I would once again like to thank the public and the media for their help in sharing this appeal.

“However, we still have a suspect outstanding for the offence in the vehicle. I would urge anyone who may have any information regarding this attack to get in touch as soon as possible. The second assault happened at approximately 2am close to Witton station. The victim flagged down a vehicle for help, a man then raped her.”
