Bernadette Peters Loves Dogs More Than You Do, I’m Sorry I Don’t Make The Rules

The animal adoption event, Broadway Barks, features a Broadway legend and adorable dogs–what more could you ask for?

Every year in Shubert Alley in the heart of Times Square, the Broadway community comes together for an event hosted by Broadway Barks, a nonprofit organization that promotes the adoption of homeless animals.

Broadway Barks was founded by best friends (and legends) Bernadette Peters and the late Mary Tyler Moore, both avid animal lovers.

The annual event, which has its 20th anniversary this Saturday July 14, helps hundreds of shelter animals find their permanent homes.

In 20 years, more than 2,000 dogs and cats have found their forever homes.

.@OfficialBPeters will celebrate "Stella & Charlie" with event @Bloomingdales in NYC 10/17.

Celebrities who are also animal lovers attend the event, including one of Bernadette's besties Gloria Estefan. I don't know who's cuter—the dog or them!!

This year, 80 artists will be attending the event, including Matt Bomer, Renée Fleming, Katharine McPhee, Michael Urie, Andrew Rannells, Katrina Lenk, and Melissa Benoist.

Bernadette herself has adopted her family pets, including this cutie named Kramer.

    And her sweet girl, Stella.

Here I am with my sweet girl Stella. October 31st it will be one year since I lost her. She was Divine!!

BuzzFeed Animals will be covering the event on Instagram, so make sure to follow along starting at 3 p.m. EST this Saturday!
