We always talk about brilliant television pilots and finales, but there are also so many episodes in-between with perfectly executed ending scenes that leave you sitting there, needing time to process what you've witnessed, cursing at the "next episode" option because you just want to play the end credits and digest.
Maybe it was an actor's incredible performance, the start of a shocking new storyline, the conclusion of a subplot that's been built up, or just a beautifully shot and directed moment. Whatever the case, the key is that it's an episode's ending and you're left with SEVERAL thoughts and/or emotions, perhaps covered in goosebumps!
Take for example, Game of Thrones Season 7, Episode 4, which ended with an incredibly intense battle that came to a head with Jaime attempting to kill Daenerys, and Bronn tackling Jaime just before he's scorched by a dragon. Multiple main characters nearly killing each other in a span of seconds, all to a beautifully intense score? STUNNING.
Here's the ending scene:
Or Breaking Bad Season 4, Episode 11, when Walter White had a meltdown after learning that the money he'd so desperately needed had been given to Ted, and the episode ended with a shot of Walt lying in the crawl space; unsettling, piercing music playing throughout it. CHILLING.
Here's the ending scene:
Or DAVE, Season 2, Episode 9, which built up the season-long struggle to create music and ended with Dave having a breakthrough and recording a track that plays through the end credits. GOOSEBUMPS.
Here's the ending scene:
Perhaps you remember Stranger Things Season 2, Episode 3, which ends with Will following Bob's advice to stand up to his fear, only to be consumed by a monster. SUFFOCATING, SHOCKING, AND UNSETTLING
