Netflix In Canada Is Way Better Than It Is In America And I Have The Evidence To Prove It

    Territorial licensing ruins everything!

I recently went to Vancouver for the first time and it was fun and beautiful, but partway through my trip I stumbled upon something truly breathtaking. It wasn’t the nature, or the cityscape, or poutine, or even the ketchup-flavored chips (although those were delicious)...

It was Netflix. I was just checking for the new episodes of Stranger Things when I spotted The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air casually chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool under the "Award-winning TV Shows."

At first I thought Netflix just did an update and added some dope stuff, but then I began to notice a bunch of things I hadn't seen available for streaming. That's when I realized I was experiencing CANADIAN NETFLIX.

    Netflix

They've got better blockbuster movies to choose from, like Inception, Get Out, La La Land, and Wonder Woman, just to name a handful.

Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, Lionsgate[1], Warner Bros. Pictures

They've got classics like Jurassic Park (plus The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III) and Back to the Future (plus Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III).

    Universal Pictures

They have newer hit movies like 2018's A Quiet Place.

    Netflix

THEY HAVE MULTIPLE SEASONS OF SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.

    Nickelodeon

They've got Spider-Man. SO MUCH SPIDER-MAN. There's a Tobey Maguire one (Spider-Man 3), TWO Andrew Garfield flicks (The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2), and even the recent Tom Holland one, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

    Netflix

Best believe, I started to watch it.

They've got the last four Harry Potter movies (random, but yes, only the last four).

    Warner Bros. Pictures

    They've got a few popular A24 hits!

    A24

I mean, we're really getting smoked, y'all. If you search, "Quentin Tarantino" on American Netflix, you see a couple options, The Hateful Eight and Pulp Fiction. But in Canada? They have both of those, plus Django Unchained, Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, and Inglourious Basterds.

    Netflix

I spent entirely too much time scrolling through their options, finding so many gems. They've got a lot of movies you sort of forgot about but could easily get sucked into watching if you saw it on TBS, like 21 Jump Street (they also had 22 Jump Street, of course).

    Columbia Pictures

Canada — you're beautiful, your food is tasty, your sights are gorgeous, and your Netflix is ELITE. I'm going to stop here, otherwise this'll just turn into a 5,000 word essay listing what they had, which is also the title of a movie Canadian Netflix has but we don't.
