So we know that drones can deliver pizza to directly to your face while you sit in your backyard, but Freefly Systems has just invented a more active (and slightly cooler) way to use drones: surfing.

The company has unveiled a video of its Freefly ALTA 8 zipping around with a man in tow on a skimboard and surfboard. It's a bit like kitesurfing, except you're being pulled by a giant flying robot rather than a kite. Pretty sweet.

This is only the latest cool project in Firefly's portfolio. Earlier this month they helped film the wild skiing video "Supervention 2."

And, before that, they filmed some skateboarding in Afghanistan.

For @Skateistan's latest project, @ghostdigcinema brought the #MōVI M15 out to Afghanistan with @skateistanollie.

Some have expressed skepticism that the drone could pull a guy on a surfboard all on its own, but the Freefly team has been adamant that the videos are legit.

"The video and clips are indeed 100% real," Hugh Bell from Freefly told Mashable. "The ALTA is the only thing pulling the boarder."

However, unless you've got the $17,495 to spot for the drone, it's pretty unlikely you'll be hitting the water with a flying mechanical friend anytime soon.

On the other hand, if you're Jordan Belfort, then why the hell not.
