Khloé Kardashian Explained Why She Let Tristan Thompson Move In With Her

"This is what family does. This is the father of my kids."

Khloé Kardashian was there to support Tristan Thompson after his mother, Andrea, died of a sudden heart attack in January.

On Wednesday's episode of The Kardashians, viewers watched as she rushed from Calabasas to Toronto with Tristan upon learning the news about his mom.

"Tristan found out that his mom had had a heart attack. It shook up his entire world," Kim Kardashian said. "So of course, we drop everything and go to Toronto. It's not even a question, I'll be there."

Khloé recalled Tristan calling her and screaming through the phone how his mother was gone. "I didn't really understand what he was saying," she said. "He was just like screaming on the phone, trying to tell me that she's gone. I was really close to Andrea. We spoke every single day."

Kim said that when they got to Toronto, they had to do "everything," from planning Andrea's funeral and cleaning out her apartment, to "prepping" to bring back Tristan's younger brother Amari, who's "severely disabled." Andrea had been his primary caretaker before she died.

But then, after they returned, the roof of Tristan's house — which was under construction — collapsed.

"We had crazy weather for California, like extreme rains," Khloé said, "and Tristan's roof caved in on his home and caused flooding." As a result, Khloé said she was letting Tristan and Amari live with her until the home could be repaired.

Kim thought it was so weird how Khloé was "so ready to have [a] year of being free," only for Tristan to have this accident and have to move in with her. But Khloé saw it differently.

"God does have a plan and God doesn't want him to be alone right now, and why should he be?" she said.

She also clarified that she was not back with Tristan and was only helping him out in a time of need. "This is what family does," Khloé said. "This is the father of my kids. I lost my dad, and my dad was like a fairytale parent, but still I can't wrap my head around losing my mom, and I know how close Tristan and his mom are and it's just heartbreaking. And then to be left with the responsibility of another person as well. It's a lot. … Tristan and I are family and we're gonna be family for the rest of our lives."

She added that she was "grateful I'm strong enough and brave enough to be a support system for someone else who has no other support system right now. You don't have to treat me right for me to treat you right. It's not the way I was raised."
