Issa will be playing President Barbie in the film, which, according to the synopsis, will follow Barbie as she travels to "the human world to find true happiness" after being "expelled from Barbieland for being a less-than-perfect-looking doll."

Interestingly, Issa isn't a fan of the color pink. She recently told the Guardian she hates it and "never thought" she looked good in it. But I mean, clearly, she was wrong. Here are all of Issa Rae's best Barbie looks.
1. Issa gave a "Malibu Barbie" vibe at a Barbie photocall in London on July 13. She wore this fitted white tank with a chic pink leather miniskirt and white cat-eye sunglasses.
2. A day earlier, at the Barbie European premiere, Issa wore a hot pink mini dress with a ruched fan detail. She paired the look with a pearl necklace, small hoop earrings, a matching pink purse, and pink, strappy heels.
3. Later, she changed into this pink and green feather hem dress by PatBo. Issa seemingly opted for the same hoop earrings but switched her shoe to a classic black, heeled sandal.
4. On July 9, at the Los Angeles premiere, Issa gave true Barbiecore in this pink velvet floor-length dress. Designed by Marc Bouwer, it featured a tie detail at the neckline with a sexy chest cutout underneath. Issa accessorized with sparkly drop earrings, a glittering bracelet, a fuchsia clutch, and various rings.
5. On June 30, Issa attended a celebration party for Barbie, wearing a sheer hot pink dress over a slip. She kept the accessories simple, letting this bold number speak for itself.
6. Then, at a fan event for Barbie, Issa wore what appeared to be a yellow dress under a multicolored patterned coat, with her hair pulled back into a sleek bun. She completed the look with gold hoop earrings, a gold necklace, and matching rings.
