Elle Fanning could have been in a major movie franchise, but she wasn't because...she didn't have enough Instagram followers.
The Great star appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz this week, recalling that the role she was passed over for was in "something big."
“I’m not going to say what it was, but I didn’t get a part once for something big because — it might not have just been this reason, but this was the feedback that I heard — was because I didn’t have enough Instagram followers at the time,” Elle said.
While she wouldn't provide the name or details about the project, Elle shared that "it was for a bigger thing, like, a franchise-y thing.”
"I firmly don't believe in not getting a part [for that reason]," she continued. "But yeah, I would not say no to those [opportunities to star in a franchise]."
The number of followers that Elle had at the time is unclear, but as of now, she's sitting at 6.2 million.
