9 Struggles Northerners Have When They Meet Southerners

Northerners meeting Southerners is like two aliens meeting from different planets, they are so different.

1. The 'bread cake' debate

The struggle is real. Getting stared at when you ask for a bacon teacake and they think you mean one with fruit in it... no we just meant a "bread cake".

Did anyone else get told off as a child for leaving all the lights on in the house and your parents shouting "turn lights off, its like bloody Blackpool Illuminations in ere"? Yeah, us too.

3. Having gravy on everything... and I mean everything

Southerners will never understand the joy of having gravy poured an any dry food we have. Roast dinner, chips... even a sandwich, we just can't get enough of it!

4. Not wearing a coat on a night out

Who needs a coat? Your only jumping in and out of a taxi and running into the club. There is no point taking excess stuff with you, so why not just freeze to death. Us Northern folk are equipped to the cold due to this so it's no problem for us.

Northerners love it when they hear 'No likey, No lighty' when people from down south try to impersonate us. Surely our accents don't sound that bad, do they?

Down South this is known as an alleyway, however up north we call it a snicket or ginnel - words southerners pull a really confused face at and make an 'ehh' noise.

7. Being called 'duck' or 'love' is just a friendly nickname

Please don't be scared if a alarming, big Northern man calls you 'love', he's just being nice.

8. Constantly referring to Peter Kay jokes in a conversation

9. Known for having a brew ... a Yorkshire Tea especially
