The UK International Center (UKIC) leads internationalization efforts at the University of Kentucky. This is the place you can meet students from all over the world. Also, UKIC will take good care of you!
2. Get involved and be outgoing！
Extracurricular activities are a huge part of American university culture, especially at UK! Just stay positive, outgoing and get involved with other students and organizations. You are welcoming here!
3. Attend UK sports events!
The most representative sport in here is basketball! Kentucky is one of the most successful NCAA Division I basketball program through history! So if you have a chance, go to a sports event with your new friends. People always have more common during the games, and you might find a new passion.
4. Conquer Homesickness
Although unpleasant, homesickness happens to everyone at some point, especially for international students. It’s a totally new city with unfamiliar people and it’s hard not to feel lonely sometimes. But remember it is totally normal! Just explore this new location, get connected with old friends and think about the big picture! You will be fine!
5. Develop your English skills
Master the language, this will help you to settle down and study faster. Be confident and speak as frequently as possible！
