    The Walking Dead: Swear Review

The latest episode of the Walking Dead caught many viewers by surprise because of its dramatic shift in tone, setting and main characters. With that being said there’s no way around it, this week's episode of the Walking Dead was a letdown.

The latest episode of the Walking Dead caught many viewers by surprise because of its dramatic shift in tone, setting and main characters. With that being said there’s no way around it, this week's episode of the Walking Dead was a letdown.

In the Walking Dead: “Swear” we finally got a chance to catch up with Tara and Heath’s story line. The last we seen on them they went off on a scavenge run towards the ending section of last season. This was because the real live actors took care of other arrangements outside of the show.

It was good to finally see what Tara and Heath have been up too, but spending a full episode on it seemed a bit too long. It just would have been more satisficing if more would have come out of their finding, especially since there are more important story lines taking place (Negan, Carol, Daryl...well anyone really).

When we do catch up with Heath and Tara we see them venturing across the land in search of supplies, when suddenly they are facing a large swarm of “walkers”. While it look like at first Heath will leave Tara it is revealed that he comes back to try and save her. Tara falls off a bridge into a large body of water and the two were separated. We are left on a cliffhanger with Heath’s fate at the end of the episode, as Tara was only able to find his broken glasses.

What we do see is what happens to Tara when she falls off the bridge into water. She comes across another community call Oceanside who has dealt with the saviors (Negan’s group) before. Oceanside people tried to fight the saviors but were quickly cut down to size as they lost the battle. Negan’s group got their revenge by killed all of the Men and all of the boys ages 10 and over.

The only way they were able to escape was to leave everything they had behind and go try and find a new place to live. This has made the people of Oceanside very untrustworthy of any other group or people. They have a kill on sight mentality but for some reason one of the members of the group Cindy doesn’t want to kill Tara.

After the leader talked to Tara she realized that Tara is from another camp and she deems it too unsafe to let her go back. They tried to trick Tara by taking her out to the forest and having her executed but luckily she was able to make a hasty escape thanks to her new friend Cindy.

After Tara was able to make her escape and get back to her she was told the bad news of what has happened to the group while she was gone all this time. Even though it was her first time hearing about the news of the death of her girlfriend it seemed a bit overshadowed by the death of Glenn, Abraham and the Daryl’s being taken by Negan.

Overall so far this was the weakest episode of the season by far, but that doesn’t mean it was terrible. We will have to wait into this upcoming week to see what the next episode will bring. You can watch The Walking Dead on AMC with DISH Network.
