This was the scene of one of Tiger Woods’ greatest upsets, the 2009 PGA Tour Championship. It was here that Tiger looked to have another title in his reach when YE Yang, an upstart no one expected to have a chance played the best golf of his life to overtake Tiger and clench the championship.

2. Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland

It was on this beautiful and historic course in 1998 that Woods had a chance to win for America. Teamed with John Daly and Mark O’Meara, Woods’ job was to take out the 190th ranked Santiago Luna in the semi-finals and move to take on either Australia or South Africa. Through the 10th hole Woods was up four strokes but with a couple of birdies from Luna and some missed opportunities from Woods the stage was set for the king of the golf world to be toppled.

3. Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande, Spain

In 1997 the Ryder Cup was played for the first time in continental Europe and leading the charge across the pond was Tiger Woods, America’s young champion. Little did Tiger know that he’d be facing off against Constantino Rocca who he had handled easily at the Masters previously. The 21-year old Woods was the heavy favorite but the 115th-ranked Rocca made two quick birdies and won 3 of the first 5 holes. Tiger, surely knocked off balance mentally, proceeded to make several errors and ultimately lost out to the Italian challenger.
