A Million Reasons I'm Your Girl... Or At Least 6

Dear sir or madam, I'm writing today to express my immense interest in your Merchandising Coordinator position. I have built my career in a variety of roles within the retail industry over the last five years. No two positions were alike, but I've loved them all. Every one allowed me to learn something new about retail and about creating the best customer experiences. I know my diverse skills and qualifications will make me an asset to your merchandising team at Warby Parker, but with that said, I would like to highlight a few specific reasons why I know I am the girl for the job:

1. I Can Keep Up.

I love a fast paced work environment, which is one of many reasons why I love retail. In my experience, this industry requires you to adapt quickly because it is constantly changing on a whim. Whether it's launching a new product online in under 24 hours or completing an entire floor move in 10 minutes because of an impromptu flood (#truestory), I’ve seen it all, and I keep coming back for more. I love any role where things move and change quickly and where hard work and problem solving are a requirement. At the end of the day, adapting quickly and efficiently allows us to create remarkable experiences for our customers NOW, and that’s everything.

2. Curiosity Hasn't Killed This Cat.

I have always had an insatiable curiosity. What can I say? This nerd loves to learn! No doubt about it, I’ll have a million questions if I should join your team, but what better way to learn and grow? In my experience, curiosity is the key to innovation.

3. I'm an Analytics Junkie.

My love for analytics comes hand and hand with my curious nature. Falling down the rabbit hole of reading reports is my idea of a good time. In fact, it’s happened more times than I care to admit. In a business where reports are always at your fingertips, analysis can be addicting; but unlike my coffee addiction, this is one obsession I never want to kick. Digging in to the details always helps drive my most informed and productive business decisions and lets me learn that much more about my customer.

4. "You're cool, let's be friends!"

That is a direct quote from me to probably everyone in my first grade class. It was a bold tactic that I've refined over the years, but what can I say? I like people. It is not surprising then, that when it comes to my job, I value working on a team, and it sounds like Warby Parker does too. Working with others, learning from them, bouncing ideas off them, executing a vision alongside them - that’s been my reality for the last five years, and it’s always going to be a part of my dream going forward.

5. The Customer Always Comes First.

I think we can agree on that. It is not a newfound principle, but in every job I have held in this industry, it is the mantra I have held close. Creating thoughtful and authentic customer experiences, whether that be behind a computer screen or at the cash wrap, has been my motivation for the past five years, because seeing them smile makes me smile. It’s that simple.

6. I'm Hooked on Glasses.

Is there anything cooler than a pair of glasses? My sister got her first pair of glasses at the age of 4. They were gigantic rainbow frames that took up half her face, and to this day I cannot think of something I’ve been more jealous of. They were rad. And beyond their status as the most fashionable accessory to ever exist, they let my sister see, and suddenly the shy girl who was often too nervous to speak in class was bubbling over with newfound confidence. A pair of rainbow glasses was the simple change that made all the difference. That’s why I know glasses are the coolest. They are most powerful fashion accessory to exist; what could be cooler than that?
