Ask lots and lots of questions!

Even if you think it's obvious, student ambassadors and staff have probably heard it before. Ask anything from accommodation to assessments.

Take contact details

In case you forget to ask something, you can always contact the student/staff member for any queries.

Take a campus tour

The tours really help you to get a vibe of the university and student life. If you also have specific requests such as there being a dance studio, make sure to check!

Check out the societies on offer

At Cardiff, there's a huggeee range of societies and there is absolutely something for everyone so make sure you ask. Societies are a great way to make friends with similar interests outside of your course mates and flatmates.

Talk to current students

They know all the ins and outs of what it’s like to be at the university so get an honest opinion from them.

Take a notebook

Don't forget to note down important advice/points people have made to you. It’s easy to forget details and then not be able to remember what was said about the facilities, course.

Go to the talks

The university and subject school will run talks throughout the day on a variety of topics. There are also talks that are directed at parents, so your family can also have an idea what they're getting.

Visit the accommodation

There will be show flats in the accommodation where you can peer in and see how the rooms and living space is.

Visit the local area

You may not think it but once you're living in the university, the surrounding area will also become your new home so make sure that there's decent shops and supermarkets nearby.

Take pictures

Like the notebook, this will help trigger your memory and help you figure out whether that university should be your chosen one.
