Can You Guess Where These Popular Dog Breeds Originated?

These adorable wrinkly faced babies hail from China! They used to be popular with Chinese emperors and royalty!

These long-haired friends hail from Havana Cuba! The Havanese is an old breed from the bichon family and came over to Cuba with Spanish farmers in the 1500's

Okay, so this one was a trick question! Instead of hailing from France, French Bulldogs actually have roots in England, when English immigrants moved to France in search of better work, they brought their bulldogs with them! They were later bred down to the lap-sized wrinkly faced companions we know and love!

Labrador Retrievers are more American than apple pie! While their exact origin is unknown, they were thought to have descendants come over from England. They quickly became mega popular in the USA. They are "top dogs" in the U.S.A with more Labs registered with the AKC in the U.S. than any other dog.

What about Labs? Where do they originate?

Okay, so this one should be obvious, but these beautiful dogs hail from Germany! While Shepherds were already popular in Germany, there was no one standard of breeding until the late 1800's, when it was decided to start breeding shepherds for certain traits, and thus, the German Shepard was born!

What about German Shepherds? Where do they come from?

These famous floofs hail from Japan! They are the oldest dog breed in Japan and were saved from extinction after World War II.

We see Shiba Inus in memes and Doge coin but where do they call home?

Corgis, otherwise known as Welsh Pembroke Corgi, have lineage in Wales. In fact Corgi means "dwarf" in Welsh. Corgis were bred as herding dogs, but are now pint-sized companions.

Our speckled pals come from from the Dalmatia region of Croatia. Often 'spotted' alongside firemen these working dogs were originally bred as hunting and guard dogs.
