Flume Used His Arias Acceptance Speech To Slam Sydney's Lockout Laws

    "To our policy makers and our politicians, please keep Sydney open."

    On Wednesday night during the Aria Awards, Australian DJ Flume used his acceptance speech for Best Dance Release to address Sydney's lockout laws.

    The lockout laws prevent people from entering nightclubs after 1.30am, with last drinks at 3am. The laws were put in place to decrease alcohol-related assaults, but many people believe the laws are killing Sydney's night life.

    He explained that music evolves in small venues, and that he wants other artists to be able to perform in those spaces.
