5 Reasons Why You Should Add That Person* On Facebook

*That One Person You Met At That One House Party That One Time

1. Friendship

It doesn’t hurt to have more friends! Friends are fun! Friends are cool!

Besides, people say you become friends with someone when you drink with them. If you met them at an event where alcohol was involved, you’ve already got the first step of friendship out of the way!

2. Metcalfe's Law

Metcalfe's Law “states that the value of a telecommunications network is proportional to the square of the number of connected users of the system (n2).”

Ok. So this sounds complicated, but it's really not. Pretty much as your network increases in size, it will also increase in value.

So yeah. Add that person. You never know how that one conversation you had with that one person you met at that one house party that one time can benefit you later in life!

3. Plausible Deniability

What if this person doesn’t remember who you are? Or thinks that you’re not worthy of internet friendship? It’s cool. Just deny it. It was an accident! It was a joke! I didn’t want to be friends with you at all!

4. Opening Up Your Circle

Ok. So there’s that one guy that keeps reposting and liking stories about Trump. It’s weird, it doesn’t really make sense, it’s kind of offensive…

But you’re getting a chance to see perspectives outside of your comfort zone!

In order to prevent placing ourselves in echo chambers, it’s important to have friends that have different opinions than you do (even if their opinions include alternative facts and fake news).

5. Birthday Wishes

More people get to wish you a Happy Birthday!

Another useless reminder that you're another year older!
