The Glow Up Of Ellsworth: 5 Facts You Didn't Know About Brockport's Mascot

In honor of National Bird Day, here's an ode to our mascot - Ellsworth Boozer Eagle.

1. Ellsworth is 63 years old!

Ellsworth was "born" in 1956, to parents/creators & Physical Education majors Dave Cohen ‘56, Bob Bloxsom ’58, and Frank Marino.

2. The Golden Eagle (which is not to be confused with a Bald Eagle) is an actual species of bird.

Contrary to popular belief that Brockport conveniently contrived the "Golden Eagle" to fit the green & gold color scheme, it is an actual species of eagle!

Facts: Golden Eagles are one of the largest, nimblest species of eagle, reside in North America, and are also the "mascots" of Albania, Germany, Austria, Mexico, and Kazakhstan.

3. Ellsworth didn't always look as Gucci as he does now.

No one's glow up compares.

Ellsworth's 1950's get-up consisted of a papier-mâché head and a college sweatsuit.

4. The decade that brought us The Beatles & Elvis Presley also brought us preppy Ellsworth.

This was one of the original paintings of Ellsworth from the 1960's, that hung in the Union for years. And I mean... that bowtie, the sweater vest. Fire.

5. Ellsworth is woke.

This 63 year-old is pretty woke for his old age. Ellsworth took it upon himself to make some GIFs, and they are pretty incredible.
