The owner of Egg, the 14-week-old pug who was allegedly "stolen" in early February, has been charged by police with making a false report.
New South Wales Police originally said three men armed with knives had approached Egg’s owner at about 10:30pm on February 10 as he was taking his pooch for a walk. After demanding Egg’s owner’s wallet and backpack they also took Egg and ran off, police said.
Egg's owner told police the assailants were of Middle Eastern or Mediterranean appearance.
But on Tuesday night, Egg's owner was questioned at Auburn police station and issued with a court attendance notice for false representation resulting in a police investigation.
Police still don't know where Egg is.
