This Is What's At The Bottom Of Australia's Newest Sinkhole

    Sinkholes, uh, find a way.

Last week, a big ol' chunk of a Queensland beach fell into the ocean, as a sinkhole opened up and swallowed it whole.

What was at one point a beautiful beachside campsite was transformed in a matter of minutes to a swampland littered with caravans, 4WDs, and camping equipment.

Yesterday, some local divers went into the sunken campsite to take a look at what was down there.

It begins behind an upturned vehicle, covered in debris and (now) aquatic plants.

Then, the upturned remains of what appears to be a camper van.

What looks like mattresses have been splayed across the ocean floor as well.

The Queensland Department of National Parks says many of the vehicles and belongings at the bottom of the sinkhole are deeply embedded in the sandbank and won't be recovered.
