Here's The Story Behind That Super Cute Viral Quokka Photo

Turns out the lil' quokka was seriously desperate for attention.

Western Australian Campbell Jones has taken maybe the best ever photo of a quokka – perfectly capturing the happy-go-lucky attitude of one of Australia's favourite marsupials – while visiting WA's Rottnest Island.

Campbell and Emily were riding their bikes when they saw a few quokkas sitting by the side of the road.

"Due to the 'Quokka Selfie' trend, we were excited to try and get a photo with them," said Campbell. "As soon as we hopped off the bikes the quokkas came walking towards us. They are very friendly animals."

After taking a few quick shots the pair returned to their bikes, but one quokka started to chase after Campbell.

"It leapt at me multiple times, and so I just put my GoPro in its leap path, and it jumped perfectly into the frame," said Campbell.

Campbell's "leaping quokka" photo has over 3,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
