Meanwhile In Australia: A Kangaroo Interrupts A Soccer Match To Lay On The Field

    Soccer...roo...

A literal soccer-roo has interrupted a Canberra soccer match, hopping on to a field during half-time in a game between Canberra FC and Belconnen United.

Video of the 'roo went viral on Monday, and shows the Australian native hopping along before lining itself up in front of goal.

At first, there wasn't much of an interruption as it was half-time. The 'roo left the field before the second half began, but a few minutes later returned.

It's a totally normal thing that definitely happens all the time in Australia.

Football in Canberra This is common. We have kangaroos on our training ground often and they pop up on match day as well Kangaroos seem as common as sea gulls in Kangaroo. It’s always nice! https://t.co/m0E1G1tRKI

Kangaroo soccer would be 100 percent more entertaining than regular soccer. https://t.co/DGVp7FK48P

Russ Gibbs, who was commentating the game, told the ABC he had only seen a kangaroo enter the field of play once in his 15 years of calling games. "He was quite happily watching the first part of the match and decided he'd join the field of play when the girls went off at half-time," he said.
